PROGRESS REPORT COMMUNITY CENTER COMMITTEE

33
REPORT OF TOWN CLERK
adjourned to April 12, 1956, held an organization meeting in October, 1956 and has had three subsequent meetings.
The Committee has considered the need of such a Community Center and is in agreement that such need does exist. The extent of that need and the manner in which it may best be met are questions which the Committee is at this time trying to answer. The members are working on a survey of all organizations and youth groups in Norwood who would benefit by and use such a Center.
The Committee has discussed what other towns our size are doing in this field and plans for visits to several centers are now being formulated. We have also met with other interested individuals in an attempt to find some method of financing which would not put too great a strain on the finances of the town at a time when so many important projects are being considered The Committee hopes to bring in a complete report and recommendation to the Town Meeting at an early date.
Norwood was fortunate to have had a civic center for many years which was an active part of the life of many of our townspeople and well remem- bered by them all. We would like the present generation of young people as well as those to come to have an opportunity to know and enjoy the benefits of such a Center.
Respectfully submitted,
MRS. FRANCIS WISGIRDA, Chairman FRED M. ADELMANN MRS. JOHN DIXON M. EDWARD NEE RICHARD E. READY, Secretary MRS. H. B. C. RIEMER PAUL V. RILEY
