i. Isaac (5), b. July 2,1767, probably at Hatfield, m. Sarah Curtis (?) in 1790, in Buckland. He was a yeoman of Whately, Buckland and Hawley. He d. about Aug. 1801, at Hawley. His wife d. 4. SCOTT, DAVID (4), (Joseph (3), William (2), Robert (1)) lived at Whate- ly, known as "Master Scott". He was a n.an of originality, a farm- er and carpenter, also a great hunter. He possessed many ster- ling qualities. He originated the square rule in lieu of the old "try rule", formerly used for framing. When he d. he had 218 descend- ants living. Had:

5. SCOTT, PHINEAS (5), (Da vid (4), Joseph (3), William (2), Robert (1)) b. Mar. 13, 1756 at Whately, m. Rhoda Crafts, Dec. 26,1776. They removed to Hawley in 1782. (See "Sketches and Incidents". ) He had done yeoman's service in the Revolutionary Army. He was a farm- er, a man of great energy and integrity, he was a prominent citi- zen in his adopted town of Hawley. For his services in the Revo- lutionary War, he received a pension from the Government. Trad- ition has it that he had his choice of 150 acres of land in either Hawley or Dalton for these services, and he chose Hawley. How- ever, deeds from settlers at Hatfield for land in Hawley lead some to doubt the truth of this story. He d. Apr. 1, 1844. His wife, dau. of Thomas Crafts, was b. Feb. 14, 1756 and d. Apr. 3,1846. The original Scott farm, owned by Phineas Scott, is still in the Scott family, having been owned by members of the family in this order: Phineas (5), Luther (6), Thaxter (7), Wilbur (8), David (9). David Scott is the present owner. Children:
