TAYLOR, JERMIAH (1), was in early life, a sea captain; he m. Alden, descendant of John Alden of Plymouth. He came from Yar- mouth in 1803, settled near what is known as Fullerville and raised a large family which was marked for its ability and influence. The mother of this family was possessed of eminent piety and great strength of character. Although raising her fan ily alone as a widow, she gave her children the example of true Christian influence. Af- ter Mr. Taylor d. on their farm in Hawley, Mrs. Taylor and the children bought a small home in Bozrah, the first house on the road to Charlemont after passing where the old church stood. When Mrs. Taylor became too feeble to walk the mile and a quarter to church, she sold the Bozrah house and with the help of her sons, she bought a little cottage close to the church. This house had been formerly occupied by Mr. Sanford. The diary of Rev. Seymour, the pastor of the church mentions "meeting in the evening at the home of Widow Taylor" because she was too feeble to attend church. His diary frequently mentions these meetings which were held after he had preached twice in the church on the same day. Mrs. Tay- lor d. Oct. 22, 1857 at the home of her son-in-law, Dea.
