* It would appear from the set. est. (1) Andrew,1 that (23) Andrew3 was dead in 1734, without chil. Will of an Andrew of Salis., July 22, Feb., 1747-8; ment. wife Hannah and dau. Edith, wife of Francis Hook. This must be some other Andrew, prob. of the fourth generation.

4 ENOCH2 GREENLEAF (Edmund1), " dyer," b. ab. 1618 ; recd. land in Salisbury in the "first division," and in 1640 but his name is not on the S. lists of 1650 and later. It is said that he was a lieut. under Cromwell ; but he was of Malden in 1665, rem. to Boston. He had estate in Malden, given him by his father, in 1663. He m. Mary --; both were living in Boston, 168S. Children :

13 II MARY,3 b. -; [m. March 5, 1669[Nb], JOHN WELLS].i
* The " Greenleaf Genealogy " gives his baptism Jan. 2, 1574. This would make him nearly 60 years old when his youngest child was born, 70 when he was at the head of the militia, and 97 at lais death. Another authority gives his birth about 1500, which seems more probable.
t The Greenleaf Gen. gives a Mary dau. of Enoch,2 with no further account of her; but supposes that the Mary who m. John Wells was dau. of Edmund.1 The above arrangement seems to us more probable.
NOTE .- For a full account of the Greenleafs, see " Genealogy of the Green- leaf Family," by James E. Greenleaf, Boston, 1896, pp. 553. Some corrections should be made in the earlier generations. For instance, Euoch Greenleaf was in Salisbury, Mass. [not Conn. ] in 1639 and '40; but was not there in 1650. So far as appears from our records, he may have been in England at the latter date.
