I. CHRISTOPHERi BATT, Mr., (Thomas), b. 1601-3, " tan- ner" and " gent .; " m. Oct. 12, 1629, Anne Bayton, in Eng. He was of Salisbury, Eng. ;; freeman, 1639; first came to Newbury, But was one of the twelve original grantees of Salisbury ; recd.

* An Anne Bartlet of A. m. Nov. 22, 170+[A], JOSEPH+ COLBY (John,& John,2 Anthony!), of A. A Mary Bartlett m. May 30, 1700[Hv], John Stevens, Jr., HI wife.

! The record states that he embarked at Southampton, 1638, aged 37, with wife Ann, 32, sister Dorothy, 20, and five children under 10 years old. This will give his birth 1601, and hers 1606; but the marriage record makes them keith 20 in 1620. [G. R., 1893, p. 135]. Her ags given in her will also makes For birth in 1003. The wife of Christopher Batt has been given " Ann Top- pan, -ister of Abraham Toppan." This error probably arose from the fact that Abraham Toppan's son mar. Ann Batt's daugliter.

From the Biley will [p. 62], and other documents, it is evident that Chris- topher Batt and Henry Biley of both Salisburys were cousins. Thomas Batt,

t Savage gives John Bickford of Dover [Oyster River, now Durham], in 1647; had sons John, Joseph, and Thomas. He gives 3 chil. of John and Temperance, b. 1660-1672; but at Exeter is a will of John Bickford, Sen., of Oyster River, Feb. 12, 1585; Oct. 7, 1697; which ment. wife Temperance, but Do chil .; also a will of Thomas Bickford, 1706, which ment. wife Bridget and sev- eral chil.
