She wrote a narrative of the captivity of ut eleven weeks which followed the assault by the Indians, b. 10,1675-6, when some of her family were killed and the re- inder taken captive, except her husband, who had gone to ston. During his senior year at Harvard he wrote what was termed "a scan- us libel," and posted it up on the Ipswich meeting-house. In it he said le resident of Ipswich, "A wet eele's tayle and his word were something h ye taking hold of." He was tried and sentenced to be whipped or pay ad charges, 30s. He made an apology, and the remainder of the fine was tted in 1656.
