KINS. He was of Ipswich in 1667, when he bought land in Wells. but was living in the town of Wells in Dec., 1669, as a deed to hi, bro. Nathl. expressly states. Sv. states that he preached at Kit- tery and Isle of Shoals in 1670. He was the first settled ministe: of the first chh. in A., having been settled in 1672 or '3; though: preaching had been enjoyed in the " new town " for ten or twenty years before that time. [See pp. 17, 1S.]* For the next ha !: century he was the leading spirit of the town. He d. July 10. 1734 ;j will Aug. 7, 1728 ; July 29, 1734. Wife Mary d. Jan. 20. 1726-7[A]. Children :


1745, perhaps earlier, it was separated from the others by a line, and 170 .. added. In 1830, the names of those who had recd. honorary and ad eunder degrees were made a distinct division of the catalogue, and Thomas Wells wa: placed at the head of the list, under the year 1703. He may have been, at on. time, a member of the class of 1669.
