The necessary ballots prepared for each precinct and all other paraphernalia for the proper conduct of the election was supplied by the Town Clerk and turned over to the officers of the various precincts.
The polls were declared open in each precinct at seven o'clock in the morning and remained open until eight o'clock in the evening at which time, after due notice, they were declared closed.
The ballots were counted by the election officers and en- cased in boxes, which were locked and sealed, and the same were delivered by direction of the Town Clerk to the Police Station where they were placed under police guard until after the expiration of the time within which a petition for recount might be filed.
The returns and keys to ballot boxes from each pre- cinct were turned over to the Town Clerk and with the assistance of the Registrars of Voters the returns were can- vassed and the result announced.
