Robert Knight of Berwick married, 29 Aug. 1714, Susanna, widow of Abraham Lord. This was his second marriage, for he and wife Susanna deed land to sons Grindell and Robert in 1718.
Grindell Knight married Mary - and had son John bapt. 16 Sept. 1721. John m. Olive Hamilton 2 June 1748, had ch. John bapt. 20 May 1749; May bapt. 24 May 1751 : Olive bapt. 3 July 1754.

This Robert Knight was of York and died about 1676, leav- ing son Richard of Boston. York Deeds III. 37. He was aged 71, 7 Dec. 1658.

LEIGHTON.
John Leighton was fined in 1645. Before 1661 he had mar- ried widow Joanna -- and lived in Saco. "Old Goodman Leiten" is mentioned in Kittery in 1704. In 1680 he lived at Winnegance. Bath, Me. He had a son John, who married Mar- tha. dau. of Robert Booth of Saco, and had son James born in Saco in 1675. July 3 1722. administration was granted to Eben- ezer Place of Newington, N. H., on estate of his grandfather, John Layton of Biddeford. Folsom thinks that William Leighton of Kittery was of this Saco family, but no direct proof of it has been found. See his History of Biddeford, p. 179.
William Leighton, mariner, born about 1625, bought land near Watts Fort in 1656 and the same year married Katharine, dau.

The town meetings were for many years held at hs house, as well as the first meeting of the Court of General Sessions. He died 10 Nov. 1714. in the 62d year of his age. His wife died 21 March 1737 in the 75th year of her age. Children :

Benjamin Crocker of Ipswich and Mary his wife, for 35 pounds paid to John Rogers of Kittery and Susanna his wife by John Leighton. and Tobias Leighton and for diverse other good causes and considerations release all rights to one full third part of estate of 50 acres in Kittery, "as the same was laid out and bounded unto Elizabeth Leighton late of Kittery afores'd. singlewoman. dec'd as per the records of ths town of Kittery on the 20th Day of Feb'ry 1671." "One third part after her decease descended and came to be the proper estate of her sister Kath- arine Leighton afterwards Katharine Whipple, the mother of the above- said Martha Brown, Mary Crocker & Susanna Rogers." LEWIS.
John Lewis appears in Roxbury, Mass., in 1640 and probably died 16 Nov. 1647. He had two sons, twins, Peter and Andrew, born 11 Sept. 1644.
A John Lewis of Great Island is mentioned in a deed in 1662. He had a daughter Hannah who m. I May 1702. Joseph Simp- son and d. 26 June 1712. according to Newcastle records.
Peter Lewis was at Smuttynose Island in 1668 and sold out there in 1683. He married Grace, dau. of John Diamond. He bought, about 1670, land of John Phoenix at Spruce Creek. His will, 1712-1716. names the following children :

LIBBY.1
John Libby, born in England about 1602, came over in the employ of John Winter in 1631. He settled at Black Point, Scarboro, in 1640 and died about 1682. Name of first wife is unknown : that of second was Mary. 12 ch.
David, tenth child of John Libby, was born in 1657. He removed to Portsmouth and thence to Kittery, where he died about 1725, leaving wife Eleanor and nine children :
