Oliver Philbrick, born in Rye, N. H., It May 1804, son of James and AAbigail ( Pevear) Philbrick, was of the seventh gen- eration from Thomas, the emigrant, who came to Watertown, Mass .. about 1634, and afterwards moved to Hampton, N. H. Oliver came to Kittery about 1822 and married Eliza Tuttle Staples, dau. of James and Love ( Tuttle) Staples of Eliot. born 18 Jan. 1805. She died 10 Jan. 1876. They lived on the Navy Yard Island for many years. He bought the Whipple house,

Children were, perhaps George and John, and certainly RICHARD bapt. I Nov. 1741 ; m. Abigail, dau. of Robert Moore. Richard was a sea captain and was lost in the Straits of Belle Isle in 1775. PICKERNELL.


James Pickernell bought land in Kittery in 1707. He mar- ried Lydia, daughter of Charles Nelson. He was killed by Indians 8 June 1712. See page 174. His grave is near the house of Charles Caswell, Jr., at Kittery. In 1712 Stephen Tobey was made administrator of the estate of his brother, James Pickernell. Children :

Dr. Daniel Pierce came from Newbury, Mass., and lived at the head of Spruce Creek. He died 23 Aug. 1803, aged 63. His intentions of marriage with Olive, dau. of Rishworth and Abi- gail (Gerrish) Jordan, were recorded 20 Sept. 1765. He mar- ried soon after Ruth Sargent, who died I Dec. 1800. Joseph Pilsbury, born in Newbury, Mass., 16 Jan. 1694-5, was fourth in descent from William Pilsbury, who married in Dorchester, Mass., 1641, Dorothy Crosby and settled In New- bury in 1651. Joseph married (1) Mehitable Weed, (2) Rebecca, dau. of Daniel Fogg. Pub. 19 March 1725-6. He died before 1745.
