John, son of Quinton Pray, m. 7 May 1657, Joanna Dowman. She was made administratrix of his estate 31 Oct. 1676. REMICK.
Christian Remick came from England or from Holland. He was born in 1631 and was living at Kittery 24 Jan. 1715. He signed the submission to Massachusetts in 1652. He settled on Eliot Neck, where he had a grant of fifty-two acres confirmed by the town, 8 April 1651. Six later grants are recorded. His house stood near the river, not far from the present school-house. He was a planter and surveyor and was often one of the select- men and Treasurer of the town. His wife Hannah was living 30 April 1703. Christian Remick was a proprietor of old Kittery, and when the common lands of Kittery and Berwick were divided, about 1750, his grandson, Nathaniel Remick, received several hundred acres. The following children are recorded.

I. Sergt. Jacob Remick, son of Christian, was a farmer and ship builder. He also served as selectman and Treasurer. Had grants of land in 1699 and 1703. A descendant, John W. Remick, owns most of those grants. The names of his two wives were Lydia and Mary. Their surnames before marriage are unknown. His will, made 22 May 1739, was probated 16 July 1745. The children by first marriage were:

He married, (1) 4 Jan. 1710, Rebecca, dau. of John Sloper, (2) 18 Dec. 1724, widow Mary Hobbs, (3) 19 April 1752, Deborah, widow of John Barter and daughter of Nathaniel Keen of Kittery. He died about 1760, aged 74.

6. Nathaniel, son of Jacob and Mary Remick, lived on the farm in Eliot now owned by his great grandson, John W. Remick. He was selectman of Kittery many years, proprietor of the towns of Shapleigh and Parsonsfield, and member of the Committee of Safety in 1775-6. He married, 21 May 1741, Jane Libby. He died 28 June 1783 : she died 19 March 1784, aged 61. Their children were:
