Ordered, That the same be referred to the Lieutenant of the county of Lancaster.
The petition of John Briggs convicted of a misdemeanor in the county of Chester, in harbouring Gideon Vernon, an attainted traytor, and sentenced to a fine of fifty pounds, to be paid to the use of the State, to be imprisoned 'till the fourteenth of October next, &ca., was read ; and on consideration,
O dered, That the imprisonment of John Briggs, upon his find- ing security for the payment of his fine, fees, and costs of prose- cution, and to be of good behaviour for three years, be remitted.
Ordered, That Messieurs Gunning Bedford and Thomas Nevell be requested to proceed with as much dispatch as possible, to have the pest houses repaired, so as to answer the purposes for which they were intended ; that they be also requested to employ or dis- pose of the thirteen chevaux de frize now lying on the Jersey Shore, and the boom at the piers, in such manner as will be most advan- tageous to the State, and report their proceedings to Council.

The following orders were drawn on the Treasurer, vizt :
In favour of the Honorable John Van Campen, Esquire, for the sum of fifty-five pounds specie, in part of his pay as a member of Council, for which he is to be accountable.
In favour of John Nicholson, Esquire, Comptroller General of Accounts, for the sum of five hundred pounds, State money of the seventh of April, 1781, for the purpose of discharging one-third of depreciation certificates due to the officers and soldiers of the Penn- sylvania line, for which he is to account.
In favour of Major James Grier, of the third regiment, for the sum of seventeen pounds eight shillings, ballance of his recruiting account for the year 1778, to be paid out of the fund appropriated to the recruiting service.
The Comptroller General's reports upon the accounts of. John Moore, Esquire, of Westmoreland county, David Espy, Esquire, Prothonotary of the county of Bedford, and John Sigfriedt, late Sheriff of the county of Northampton, were read and approved.
A deed was examined and signed by his Excellency the Presi- dent, to Lieutenant James Pettigrew, conveying one hundred and five acres and one-quarter of land, situate in Macungie township, in the county of Northampton : Sold agreeably to law, for the sum of three hundred and fifty pounds specie, as the forfeited estate of Joseph Romich, an attainted traytor. Deed dated the fifth day of June, 1783.

the State, but that, in a settlement of accounts, they be intitled to pay and rations 'till the first day of July next. It is expected that Captains Boyd and Stokely will come prepared to settle with the Comptroller General for the whole. The eldest officer of the com- pany lately commanded by Captain John Hughes is, therefore, directed to put all his vouchers, &ca., into the hands of these gen- tlemen. The corps is also informed, that Council, under a sense of their many services, will take some early moment to call the attention of the Assembly to their situation, and that no disposition or good offices shall be wanting to render it as easy as possible.
The Comptroller's report upon the account of Captain Philip Schrawder for money advanced in transporting the provisions and baggage of his company of Rangers from Northampton county to Wyoming, was read and approved; and an order drawn in favour of the Captain, on the Treasurer, for the sum of thirty pounds specie.
Note .- That in the settlement of the contractor's account, it is the sense ef Council that a reasonable deduction be made for this allowance.
Upon the petition of the merchants, shop-keepers and others, dealers in salt, against the price exacted by the officer appointed to measure that article, &ça.,
Ordered, That Mr. William Greenway be desired to attend at the Council Chamber at twelve o'clock to-morrow.

Ordered, That the Memorialists, or some of them, be desired to attend at the Council Chamber at twelve o'clock on Monday next.
A circular letter from the Superintendant of Finance, pressing the collection and payment of taxes, was read and replied to, in a letter of this day.
Upon the petition of John Burrows and others, in favour of Sam- uel Burrows, convicted of felony at a Court of Oyer and Terminer, held at Newtown for the county of Bucks in April last, and sen- tenced to a fine of one hundred pounds specie for the use of the State, a restoration of the good stolen, or one hundred pounds specie, to the prosecutor, &ca., &ca.
Ordered, That his punishment by lashes and pillory be remit- ted.
The petition of William Green, by his Attorney, John Lee, pray- ing that certain papers deposited with the late Secretary of Coun- cil in September, 1781, be delivered to him, was read and granted.
The Comptroller General's report upon the accounts of Bernard Dougherty and Michael Huffnagle, Esquires, were read and appro- ved, and an order drawn upon the Treasurer in favour of the for- mer for the sum of one hundred, and another for the latter for the sum of fifty pounds, both sums to be paid out of the residue of the fund appropriated to the frontier defence, the same being in part of their accounts for provisions furnished to the troops sta- tioned in the counties of Bedford and Westmorel'd.

Ordered, That warrants issue for the execution of William Bibb and Thomas Hiler, convicted of murder at a late Court of Oyer and Terminer held at York town for the county of York, and that the said execution take place on the 21st of this month.
Ordered, That the fine of fourteen pounds thirteen shillings and two pence to be paid to the Commonwealth by Elizabeth Smith, upon conviction of larceny in the county of Chester, be remitted.
Upon the petition of Thomas Ward, convicted of burglary, and sentenced to death at the late Court of Oyer and Terminer held for the county of Chester,
Resolved unanimously, That a pardon issue in his favour.
Upon a conference had between the merchants, &ca., of the city, and William Greenway, measurer of salt, on the memorial of the said merchants, it was agreed that four shillings and two pence per hundred bushells shall be received by him untill the Legisla- ture shall determine upon it; one-half to be paid by the seller, and the other half by the buyer ..

The memorial of Messieurs Lacaze and Mallet, accompanied by a letter from Monsieur Marbois, praying that such part of the cargo of the ship Grand d' Estaing from Bourdeaux, as was origi- nally intended for the West India market, may be exempted from the duties, was read, and an order taken that a list of such part of the cargo as may fall within that description, may be presented for the consideration of Council.
A letter of instructions to the Surveyor General, agreeably to an act of Assembly intitled An Act for the sale of certain lands therein mentioned, for the purpose of redeeming and paying off the certificates of depreciation given to the officers and soldiers of the Pennsylvania line, or their representatives; and for appropriating certain other lands therein mentioned, for the use of the said offi- cers and soldiers, to be divided off to them severally, at the end of the war, was brought in by the President, read and approved.
Ordered, That the Secretary of this Board be directed to call upon Henry Osborne, Esquire, and inform him that he is discharg- ed from the service of the State, and that he is hereby required to deliver up all the publick papers, which may have come into his hands as Escheator General, Sollicitor in the late trial with the State of Connecticut, Agent for Forfeited Estates in the city of Philadelphia, and Judge Advocate of the militia, to the said Secre- tary.

Note-That the Secretary be directed to inform the Treasurer that Mr. Dougherty has agreed to take an order upon Bedford county, for the sum of four hundred pounds, and that Council ex- pect Mr. Huffnagle will take an order upon that of Westmoreland, for some part of the ballance due to him.

A deed was examined and signed by his Excellency the Presi- dent to Mary Foulke and Deborah Morris, of the city of Philadel- phia, for a tract of land situate in Southampton township, in the county of Bucks, containing two hundred and forty-two acres : Seized and sold agreeably to law, for the sum of ten thousand five hundred and ten pounds, as the estate late of Samuel Byles, an attainted traytor.
