Funeral services were held at the Valley Mortuary Chapel for Guy M. Voiles 87, of Kernville. Father Lee Wilson of St. Peter's Episcopal Church Kernville, officiated.

Walter H. Melch
A graveside service was held for Walter H. Melch of Mt. Mesa, Califor- nia on Thursday, November 20, 1980 at Kern River Valley Cemetery. Mr. Melch, who was a restaurant owner and manager most of his adult life, is survived by his wife Opal. A son Max R. Melch of Van Nuys, three daughters, Mary Helen Hendrix of San Juan Capistrano, Bernadet K. Carter of Torrance, and Martha Miller of Minneapolis, Minnesota. A brother Herbert R. Melch of Mission, Texas, a sister Helen Brasher of Mission, Texas.
Melch was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 21, 1899 and was 80 years old.
Services were officiated by Father James Reilly of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Bakersfield. Arrangements were made by Valley Mortuary.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Satur- day, November 29, 1980 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel for Charles Edward Pryor of Lake Isabella, who died at Ridgecrest Community Hospital, Ridgecrest, on November 26, 1980.
Services will be officiated by Elks Lodge 2358 of Wofford Heights. A native of Kansas he was born in Pit- tsburg, Kansas on June 21, 1910 and was 70 years of age. Inerment will be In Kern Valley Cemetery. Pryor was self employed as a contractor most of his adult life and resided In Kern County for 25 years and California for 53 years.
He is survived by two daughters: Letha Joyce Taie of Bellflower, and Lorraine Thurman of Deanir, Califor- nia. A brother William Roy Pryor of Lenwood, California and a sisters Bertha Belle of Bell. There were 8 grandchildren and 4 greatgran- dchildren.

A native of Illinois he lived in Kern County 8 years and in California 22 years. His adult life was spent as a nechanic for the General Motors Corporation in automobile manufacture. He is survived by his wife Lucille and a grandaughter Teresa Ulmer. Mr. Verardi spent his adult life as a policeman for the City of Gardena, California.

Edith Page who resided at No. 37 Kelley's Trailer Park in Wofford Heights, with her husband Walter, passed away in Bakersfield, Calif- ornia on November 21, 1980 at 2:47 a.m. A Coroner's investigation determined that she died as a resultof an injury in an auto accident in Wofford Heights, on Sept. 12, 1980.
Mr. and Mrs. Page owned and operated Page Jewelry Store in Kern- ville, CA. for many years.
Edith, or Edie as she was known by her many friends was born in New York City, New York on March 26, 1904 and was 76 years old.
She is survived by her husband Walter, sons Robert C. Harris of Reno, Nevada, and William L. Harris
of Cupertino, California, a daughter, Marge Stewart of Oakville, California, a sister Betty Foye of Lawrence, Mass .. There were eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Pete Ayala Espinoza
A vigil service was held in Greenlawn Chapel, 3700 River Blvd., Monday December 1 at 7 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial was at 9 a.m. in St. Josephs Church for Pete Ayala Espinoza 63, Lake Isabella who died November 28 in Bakersfield. The Rev., Msgr. Patrick Hannon of- ficiated and internment was in Greenlawn Park.
Mr. Espinoza had lived in Kern County since the age of six months. He was in the grocery business thirty years and was employed eleven years as Produce Manager by the Isabella Supermarket. He was a member of the Catholic Church and a retiree of the Retail Clerks Union, where he had been a member for twenty years.
Survivors include his wife Kanova, three sons Edward, Richard and Jim of Bakersfield. A daughter Anita Gaumer of Los Almitas, a stepson, Barney B. Cochran of Agusta, Georgia. There were fifteen gran- dchildren and one greatgrandchild.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 12, 1980 at the Valley Mor- tuary Chapel for Richard A. Soward, 55, of Lake Isabella, who died in Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield, California on December 8, 1980. Pastor B.M. Calhoun, First Church of the Nazarene, will officiate. Interment will be in Kern River Valley Cemetery.
A native of Ada, Oklahoma born October 22, 1925, he lived in Kern County three years and in California for 25 years. He was a foreman for the Standard Oil Company most of his adult life working in Petroleum Production. A veteran of WWII he was a Seaman First Class in the U. S. Navy.
Richard Soward is survived by his wife Dorothy Mae of Lake Isabella, a son Richard G. of Phoenix, Arizona, A daughter Nancy G. Klocke of Lake Isabella. Two brothers, Byron of Vallejo, Ca. and Ruel of Mt. Mesa, CA. Three sisters, Viola Drew of Ada, Oklahoma, Beatrice Ellis of Ingle- wood, CA., Billie Ruth Harr of Bakersfield, CA. JULIE E. MELTON
Julie E. Melton passed away on
December 13, 1980 at Ojai Manor Con-
valescent Hospital in Ojai, California.
She was 90 years of age.
Mrs. Melton was born March 7, 1890
in Sedalia County, Missouri, The family migrated to Oklahoma before
statehood, while it was still Indian Territory.
Despite the rigors of life on the prairie Mrs. Melton pursued her
education, recieved her teachers
credentials when she was 16 years old and taught school for a number of years.
She is survived by six children, Edythe Schedin, Pismo Beach; Betty Robinson, Ojai; Ruth Lewis, San Ber- nardino; Margaret Lindsey, Wofford
Heights; Everett N. Melton, Jr., Glendora; and Ramona Davis, Gardner- ville, Nevada.
Other survivors are 18 grand-
children; 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Melton was laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Santa Monica. Services were conducted by her minister, Edgar Landers of the Church of Christ in Bodfish.

He is survived by his wife Margara. sons John Zeiter of Santa Maria.and David T. Zeiter of Huntington Boaob; one brother Carson of Michigan, aix Grandchildren and five great-grand- children.

Phyllis Jane Deuel, a former teacher in the Los Angeles School District who was residing in Kern- ville, with her husband Horance W. Deuel, passed away in her home in Kernville on December 12, 1980. A native of Herman, Minnesota, she was born April 30, 1924 and had resided in Kern County 2 years and in California for 20 years. Vesta Lucas, a 15 year resident of the Lake Isabella area, died Nov. ember 27, 1980. She was 73. Born in Stockton, California Oct- ober 6, 1906, Mrs. Lucas was survived by her husband Hubert F. Lucas, and son Garvyn Reese, She also leaves four granddaughters, Linda Damiano, Donna McClure, Susan Dzikowski and Debra Abdon, and six great grandchildren. Interment was at Ojai, California December 3.
CLARA MARIE BURKHARDT
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 19, 1980 at graveside in the Kern River Valley Cemetery, Wofford Heights, for Clara Marie Burkhardt, age 86, of the Colonial Convalescent Hospital, Bakersfield, who passed away at the hospital on December 16, 1980. Pastor Tim Anderson of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lake Isabella offi- ciated the services at graveside in Kern River Valley Cemetery. A native of Sawyer, Wisconsin where she was born March 23, 1894 she had resided in Kern County for four years and in California for 29 years. She was a housewife for her adult life. Her husband Frank Rogers Burkhardt preceded her in death on April 19, 1978. She is survived by a son Lloyd F. Burkhardt of Wofford Heights, and a sister Julia Benz of San Pedro. Funeral services were held graveside at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress for Evan E. Watts of Wofford Heights. Mr. Watts was a retired navy veteran who served aboard submarines during WWII. He is survived by his wife Thelma, one son James of Cypress, one daughter Glyda Lee Malone of Long Beach, two brothers Ray and Marvin of Ohio, a sister Minnie Crosby of Arizona, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. Watts mother, Mrs. Iona Barr resides in Norwalk, Ohio. Born in Scotch Ridge, Ohio November 12, 1908, Evan Watts was 72 years of age. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary of Lake, Isabella.

A native of Michigan, Mrs. Zeiter was born November 20, 1907. She lived in Kern County 35 years, and in California 37 years. She was a housewife most of her adult life and was preceded in death by her husband, David D. Zeiter who passed away on December 12, 1980. Margaret Zeiter is survived by two sons John C. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Marine Corp 1943 thru 1945. Mr. Snyder was current president of the Kiwania Club of Lake Isabella.
