Graveside services will be held tomorrow, Friday, February 24, at Kern Valley Cemetery at 2 p.m. for Forrest W. Dickey, 80, who died February 20 in a Fresno convalescent hospital.
Born in Kentucky October 8, 1897, he was the owner-manager of the Alta Sierra Trailer Park on Greenhorn Mountain and resided in Bodfish 14 years, apending 82 years in California, 50 of those years in Kern County. He was a member of the Kernville Masonic Lodge No. 827, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and was a 50-year honorary member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers. He served In World War I.
He is survived by his widow, Ruth Dickey of Bodfish; his two sons, Forrest W. Dickey, Jr. of Carmel and Robert E. Dickey of Reno; five grandchildren and four great-grand- children.

Born in Nebraska January 21, 1910, she had been a housewife and last resided in Wofford Heights. She Lived in Kern County 7 years and resided in California for 22 years.
She is survived by her three sons, Ronald D. Bretz of Atlanta, Georgia, Rodney A. Bretz of Milford, Masss- chusetts, and Russell G. Bretz of Omaha, Nebraska; her daughter, Cheryl A. Coleman of Glendale; her three brothers, Harry H. Lane of Hermiston, Oregon, Gall S. Lane of Goldendale, Washington, and Harley F. Lane of Wofford Heights; her sister, Leona Chisman of Tualltin, Oregon; sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, Feb- ruary 24, at Highland Chapel Metho- dist Church in Lake Isabella for Sallie P. Smith, 72, who died at Kern Valley Hospital February 21. Rev. Don Roul- sten officiated and interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bakers- field.
Born in Arkansas April 23, 1905, she lived in California 54 years and in Kern County 14 years. She was a member of Eastern Star, Grand- mothera Club No. 94, Shin Chapter of the Order of the Golden Slipper, 55 Plus Club, and the Highland Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivora include her widower, Verlin Smith of Lake Isabella; her son, James V. Smith of Westminister; her daughter, Lorena Ferrera of Fresno; her sister, Lorena Flake of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Born June 13, 1907 in Georgia, he had been employed by the Western Service Company as an appliance service person for 21 years. He lived In Kern County 8 years and in California for the past 30 years, last residing in Lake Isabella.
He is survived by his widow, Dorothy Haas of Lake Isabella; his son, Howard W. Haas of Glendore; his daughter, Roxine Lee Disco of Grank- fort, Germany; and two grandchild- ren.

Born In Colton December 23, 1913, he had been a maintenance superin- tendent for Santa Fe Railroad for 34 years and was a veteran of World War II. A native of California, he spent his entire life in the state, reading in Lake Isabella for the past four years. He is survived by his widow, Edith L. Domecq of Lake Isabella.

Born in Minnesota September 10, 1891, he had been self-employed with property rentals for the past 28 years and last resided in Wofford Heights. He lived in the county and state 32 years. He was a veteran of World War One.
He is survived by his widow, Eliz- abeth Clementson of Wofford Heights and his daughter, Jeanne Kent of Santa Rosa.

Charlie Deaghart
Graveside services were conducted at Kern Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights Monday, March 13, at 1 p.m. for Charlie Deaghart, 74, who died in Wofford Heights March 5, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7665 officiated the service.
Born in North Carolina July 10, 1903, he had been a gold miner for 30 years, residing in the state and county for the past 30 years and making his final home in Wofford Heights. He served in World War II and was one of the last of the old gold miners in the Kern Valley area.

Services were held Monday, March 13, 1:30 p.m. at McMillan Mortuary Chapel in Gardena for Ruth Viola Layton, 55, who died at Kern Valley Hospital March 8. Dr. Carol Nichols officiated and interment followed at Roosevelt Memorial Park in Gardena.
Born in Los Angeles March 16, 1922, she spent most of her life in the Los Angeles area, but lived in Wofford Heights for five years.

Louis Pierucci
Rosary was recited Tuesday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Doughty- Calhoun-O'Meara Mortuary chapel and requiem Mass was celebrated yesterday at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Louis J. Pierucci. 50, Lake Isabella, who died March 19 in Bakersfield. The Rev. Craig O'Nelll officiated, Inerment was in Union Cemetery.
Plerucci, a native of Bakersfield, resided the past 14 years in Lake Isabella and was employed three years as a maintenance man at Freddie's Top of the Hill restaurant. He was a member of the Hotel & Restaurant Employees & Bartenders Local 550- and the Bakersifled Culi- nary Workers Fund.
Survivors include his wife, Anita; two sons, Jerry and Joe of Bakers- field; two daughters, Juliann at bombe and Karen Kohl of Lake Isabella; two sisters, Mary Ghilarducci of Bakers- field and Susie Romanini of Button- willow, and two grandchildren.

Vern Lipka
Services were held at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier for Varn Lipka who died March 24. Born In Pever, South Dakota, he came to California in 1932 and was the founder of Pacific Refrigeration which he owned from 1945-73. A frequent visitor to Lake Isabella since 1932, he and his wife became permanent residents last year.
He is survived by his widow, Dolores Lipka, three children and five grandchildren.

Born in Italy October 21, 1914, he was a retired hone and lap operator who had lived in Bodfish for 1 year. He spent the past 20 years in California.

Herschel Boynston
Funeral services for Herschel Jerome Boynston, 75, of Mt. Mesa, were held last Monday at Valley Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Hugh Power officiating.
Interment was on Tuesday at Ingle- wood Memorial Park Cemetery.
A retired meat cutter, Boynton died on March 31.
He is survived by his wife Mildred of their Mt. Mesa address; a son, Herschel F. Boynton; a daughter Betty Jane Rattray; a brother Bil Boynton, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Martha Thomas
Funeral Services for Martha Joy Thomas of Kernville were held last Monday at Kernville Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Goodyear officiating.
Thomas died on March 29 in Bakers- field. She was 87 years of age.

George Bartleson
Services were conducted yesterday at Valley Mortuary Chapel for George Everette Bartleson, 67, of Bodfish. Burial was at Kern Valley Cemetery.
Bartleson died April 15 and was a resident of Kern County for seven years.
He is survived by his wife, Verna of Bodfish; three sons, Robert of San Pedro; Ronald of Albany and William of El Toro; a brother, David, of Pennsylvania; a sister Margaret of Colorado; and nine grandchildren.
Bartleson was a member of the Kernville Odd Fellows Lodge No. 251; Rebeka Lodge No. 365; Good Sam Rocking Chair Group; past member of Elks Lodge; and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.
Ida Pascoe
Services were held last week for longtime Kernville resident Ida Pascoe.
Ida, 99, died in a Bakersfield hospit- al. Burial services were held in the Glennville Carmel Presbyterian Church founded by her father 112 years ago. Burial was at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
She was born August 12, 1878 and was married in 1900 to Clarence J. Pascoe, constable of Old Kernville for more than 20 years.
She la survived by two sona, Earl of Wofford Heights and Cecil of Kern- ville. Cecil was also constable of the area for more than 20 years. Four surviving grandchildren include Raymond Pascoe of Bakersfield; Carolyn Pascoe of Wofford Heights and Don and Dick Pascoe of Kern- ville.
Ida Pascoe was also survived by nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Her family has been associated with the cattle industry in Kern County for more than a century. As an active horsewoman Ida was grand marshal of two parades. First was when she was 92-years-old when she road side- saddle at Lake Isabella and the other in Kernville when she drove a two- horse carriage at 94 years of age.
In 1972 she was also honored as the oldest living member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Lila Bond
Services were held recently for Lila Mae Bond, 74, who died Aprll 6.
Rosary was said on April 7 with Mass said at St. Judes Catholic Church on April 8 with Father Mark Renner officiating. Burial was at Kern Valley Cemetery.
A resident of Kern River Valley her entire life, she is survived by her husband Elmer of Bodfish; a son Raymond Vega of Anchor- age, Alaska; a sister, Mrs. Stella Metz of Wofford Heights; a broth- er, Albert Butterbredt of Nevada and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Bond was a past member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary.

Born in Cambus Lang, Scotland, and she resided in Kern Coutny, Wofford Heights for the past four years.

Services were held last Saturday at Valley Mortuary Chapel for Robert Merrit Thomas, 57, of Southlake.
Thomas, owner-manager of KOA Campground, died in Bakersfield on Wednesday, April 28.
He had been a resident of Kern River Valley for one month and was a Veteran of World War II.

Services for John Lewis Franklin, 81, of Lake Isabella were held last Wednesday in the Valley Mortuary Chapel with Reverend B.M. Calhoun officiating.

Franklin was a member of the California Association of Realtors; National Association of Realtors and Kern Valley Board of Realtors. He was a past member of the Gardena Board of Realtors.
He is survived by his wife Florence of Lake Isabella; a daughter, La- Verne Adames, of Lake Isabella; and a aon, Kenneth, of Ventura. Also a brother, Bill of Oklahoma, a sister, Maggie of Fresno; four grandchild- ren; 10 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral servicea were held may 10 at Highland Chapel United Methodist Church for Lilyan Needler Will, 72, of Lake Isabella.
Burial followed at Kern River Val- ley Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of Lake Isabella; four sons: Howard, Robert, John and C.C .; and a daught- er Laurie.
Mrs. Will was a resident of the valley for 13 years.

OBITUARY
Jack Harris
A memorial service conducted by Moose Lodge No. 198 for Jack Frank- lin Harris was held yesterday at Valley Mortuary Chapel.
The eulogy was given by Jack Meek.
Harris, 66, died on May 20. He was a retired railroad clerk for Southern Pacific rallway.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Harris of Lake Isabella; a daughter- in-law, Jennie Harris of Paramount; two brothers, William and Clayton, both of Michigan; a sister, Kathryn of Michigan; and three grandchildren.
William Thomas
Services for William Mclain Thomas, 53, of Onyx were held last Friday at Mt. View Southern Baptist Church, Highland Chapel with Rever- end James O. Hux officiating.
Burial followed at Kern River Valley Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Fern of Onyx, four sons, Billy, Joseph, Anthony and Christopher all of Onyx; a daughter, Connie of Bakersfield; five brothers, Henry and Joe of North Carolina and Jim, Garland and Bruce, all of Georgia; and a sister, Sylvia Fox of North Carolina.
