REPORT OF OVERSEERS OF THE POOR.
The Overseers of the Poor submit the following report for the year ending March 1, 1887 : -
The amount expended in the several departments is less than for the preceding year, and does not exceed the ap- propriation made at the last annual meeting. The almshouse property has continued under the care of Mr. Calvin San- ford and wife, and we are satisfied that the neatness and good order existing throughout the premises are ample evidence of their ability to manage such an institution, and to properly care for its inmates.
The crops from the farm have been very satisfactory, but the town horses have not been so constantly employed upon the streets as usual, and have earned the sum of $157.29, which amount is nearly $200 less than for the previous year.
The number of inmates at the almshouse during the year was twenty-three. Average number eighteen and three fourths.
