REPORT OF THE OVERSEERS OF THE POOR.
At the commencement of the municipal year just closed, Eli- jah Penniman, Freeman Miles, Delia Harrington and her two chil- dren, Edna Harrington and her child, were receiving support at Davis Hill's ; Joanna Crowley and five children, George S. Coombs and wife, having a settlement in Milford; Sarah Wales having a settlement in Franklin ; were receiving partial aid at their several homes.
March 25th, 1876. Agreed with Davis Hill to provide for and take care of all paupers requiring full support, after the first of April ensuing, for $3,50 per week each, and $7,00 per week for Edna Harrington and the three children, so long as both the moth- ers stay there, and fifty cents for lodging, and furnishing one meal, to all tramps, that may be sent by the Overeers.
About the same time, received notice from Hopkinton that Dan- iel Harrington and family were receiving assistance.
April 1st, 1876. George S. Coombs and wife left town and ceased to be chargable.
June 12th, 1876. After an absence of several months, Law- rence Wilber returned to town, and went to Mr. Hill's to be main- tained.
June 24th, 1876. James W. Wilson, being sick, was sent to Mr. Hill's, to be taken care of and maintained.
July 29th, 1876. Hiram C. Pierson deceased, and the Over-

seers were called upon to make provision for the expenses of his burial. His legal settlement was in Blackstone.
Sept. 21st, 1876. James W. Wilson left Mr. Hill's, and ceas- ed to be chargable for the present.
Sept. 29th, 1876. Mary E. Pierson, widow of Hiram C. Pier- son, applied for relief for herself and three childeen. Their set- tlement is in Blackstone.
Oct. 13th, 1876. The Overseers of Franklin, having made provision for Sarah Wales, she ceased to be chargable here.
November 1st, 1876. Lawrence Wilber left Mr. Hill's, to seek employment, and it is hoped may succeed in providing for himself.
November 9th, 1876. James W. Wilson, being unable to pro- cure employment or to provide for himself, came back to Mr. Hill's to be supported.
Dec. 3d, 1776. Russell Harrington, a son of Daniel, came to Mr. Hill's, from Hopkinton, to be supported.
Dec. 19th, 1876. John Pickett, wife and three children. applied for assistance. He is a foreigner, having no settlement in the State.
Dec. 22d, 1876. Alexander Wilson applied to the Overseers of the Poor of Upton, for assistance for his son, Charles A. Wil- son. Probably his settlement is in this town, derived from his great grandfather, the late Caleb Wilson. Agreed to allow $4 per week for boarding him, for the present.
Jan. 15th, 1877. Adin A. Colvin applied for assistance for himself, wife and one child. Their settlement is in Northbridge, and that town notified.
Feb. 6th, 1877. Joseph H. Wood made application for assist-

ance for himself and wife. Their settlement is in Uxbridge, and notice sent to that town.
