Reduction, $2543 88
It will be remembered that at the last annual meeting the Treasurer was directed to use the Surplus Revenue, amount- ing to $2118.19, and the further sum of $1000.00, to be raised by taxation, for the purpose of reducing the Town debt.
As directed he has paid, for redemption of bonds, $2632.00, and for notes $711.88, making the whole, $3343.88 .; but as $800.00 has been added to the schedule of notes, increasing the floating debt, over that of last year, by the sum of $88.12, this last sum must be subtracted from the amount of reduc- tion, $2543.88, as above stated, and thus leave the sum of $2455.76 as the true reduction of the debt since last year.
All which is respectfully submitted,
JOHN G. METCALF, Treasurer.

OVERSEERS' REPORT.
The undersigned Overseers of the Poor submit the follow- ing report of their doings for the municipal year, ending March 7th, 1881.
At the commencement of the year, Elijah Penniman, Free- man Miles, and Nathan Streeter, were receiving a full support at Michael Broughey's ; Ellen Ballou was receiving support at Taunton Lunatic Hospital ; Ezra W. Allen was partially supported at the School for Idiotic and Feeble Minded Youth; Charles H. Allen was partially supported at James M. Staples; the families of George P. Tucker and Daniel Cunningham, were receiving partial support at their homes in Milford, and Mrs. Carberry and her three children (having a legal settle ment in Hopkinton,) were receiving aid at David Sherin's in this town.
March 5th, 1880. Ellen Ballou died at Taunton Lunatic Hospital, aged about 52 years, and her body was brought to Mendon, and interred, beside that of her husband at the ex- pense of her relatives.
March 11th, 1880. The Overseers met at the Record Rooms agreeable to a notice previously given, and contracted with Michael Broughey, to board and take care of all persons, in sickness and in health, who may require a full support as paupers any time during the year, for $2.00 per week for each person so cared for ; the year to comprise the time from April 1st, 1880, to April 1st, 1881. At the same time and place, agreed with James M. Staples, to board and care for Charles H.
