Since the last Report the sum of $100 00 has been paid on the note of Christopher Daniels, thus leaving the present indebtedness of the Town, on account of the Poor Farm, at $2,700 00 ; of which sum there is due the Worcester County Institution for Savings $2,200 00, and the balance, of $500 00, to Christopher Daniels. The last semi-annual payment of interest to the Savings Institution was made at five per cent.

The Treasurer would again recommend that the notes for the surplus revenue, not secured by mortgage, be collected and be invested with security by real estate.

In 1861 the sum of $329 00 was paid out to the families of volunteers, and of this sum $207 00 has been reimbursed by the State. The sum of $3,300 80 has been paid to the families of volunteers the past year (1862), and, of this sum, $1,987 02 have been certified to the State Auditor for reimbursement.

For a schedule of the indebtedness of the Town, reference may be had to the report of the Selectmen.

All which is respectfully submitted,

JOHN G. METCALF, Treasurer. MENDON, Feb. 21, 1863.
