. OVERSEERS' REPORT.


The Overseers of the Poor submit the following Report of their doings for the municipal year ending March 6th, 1865. On the 7th day of March, 1864, the following persons were at the Asylum receiving full support, to wit: Elijah Penniman, Samuel Stone, John French, Nathaniel Sweeting, Oliver B. Everett, Lawrence Wilber, Emmerson F. Goodnow, and Angenette Williams; all of whom have received full and con- tinuous support there down to the present time, excepting Lawrence Wilber and E. F. Goodnow.


March 14th, 1864. - The Overseers contracted with Wel- lington Young to take charge of the Asylum and its inmates for one year from the first day of April ensuing, for the sum of Three Hundred and Twenty-five Dollars.


March 16th, 1864. - William Inman, wife and child, became chargeable, and the Town of Uxbridge, their place of lawful settlement, was notified.


April 19th, 1864. - Zilpah Hayward, widow of Benjamin Hayward, whose ancestors had a settlement here, was removed from the house of Otis Wales, of the Town of Franklin, to the Asylum, to be supported.


About this time, the families of Joseph C. Moore, Francis B. T. Gunn, Charles Tucker and Moses Congdon were visited with varioloid, or small pox, and received assistance.


May 8th, 1864. - Lawrence Wilber left the Asylum, and ceased to be chargeable to the Town.


July 17th, 1864. - Malinda W. Everton and two children, wife and children of Samuel Everton, applied for aid, were

assisted, and the Town of Canton, their place of lawful settle- ment, notified.


December 13th, 1864. - Susan E. Inman and three children, wife and children of Dexter Inman, Jr., applied for assistance, were relieved, and the Town of Uxbridge, their place of lawful settlement, duly notified.


January 1st, 1865. - Since this time, Benjamin Wheelock and Mrs. MacDonald have received occasional assistance.


February 1st, 1865. - Emerson Franklin Goodnow was removed from the Asylum and carried to dwell with Mr. Daniel Savage, of Augusta, Me., to be by him maintained two years without expense to the town, except long continued sick- ness should render him unable to labor; and after the expira- tion of two years, then to keep him and provide for him till twenty-one years of age, if both are mutually suited and satis- fied during the first two years above mentioned.


The Overseers charge themselves with the receipt and use of the following funds belonging to the Town, to wit :-
