EDMUND L. PELLETIER, a bus driver on Hasey's Maine Stages, was b in Old Town Feb. 12, 1917, the s of Louis and Leona M. Michaud Pelletier. He attended the Old Town public schools and served in the United States Marines for five years before taking his present position. May 17, 1947 he m Miss Marion I. Layman, who was b to Arthur L. and Marian Spracklin Layman in Shirley. Mrs. Pelletier was g from the Greenville Consolidated School. She is a graduate nurse from the Eastern Maine General Hospital, and is serving on the staff of that institution.

EDWIN P. PETERS, owner and proprietor of a grocery store business on Merrick Sq., was b to Wilmont M. and Rose Griffin Peters in Brownvile Sep. 23, 1880. He first m Inez Sawyer of Madison, the d of Loren C. and Vesta Bennett Sawyer. She died in 1934 and in 1937 Mr. Peters m Effie Weatherbee of Dover-Foxcroft, the d of Guy and Flora Weatherbee. Before coming to D-F Mr. Peters had been employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway for 28 years, the last 20 of which was as locomotive engineer.


ALONZO F. PHILPOT, farmer and woodsman, was b in Orne- ville May 3, 1874, the s of Franklin L. and Rose A. Beal Philpot. He m Rosie E. Clark, who was b to Edwin and Elizabeth Starbird Clark in Atkinson Aug. 29, 1866. Ch: (1) Franklin L., b Aug. 17, 1898, is a lumberman. He m Doris Pratt of Dover and they have Vaughn and Irene. Ch: Lucille, b July 21, 1922, is Town Treasurer; Thomas W. Pierce, b Nov. 17, 1923, served three years in World World II and is now in Colby College. Both children are g of Foxcroft Academy.


WILLIAM C. PIERCE, woolen mill weaver, was b in Boston, Mass., Apr. 24, 1885, the s of Calvin D. and Annie MacFar- land Pierce. He m Helen B. Williams and she was b to Orland C. and Ella Williams in Monson Mar. 17, 1887. They have one d, Thelma Louise, b in Jamaica Plains, Mass., Oct. 29, 1926. She m Robert F. Wood of Bangor, where they reside. Mr. Pierce is a member of the American Legion.


IRWIN W. PIKE, JR., was a lineman for the Electric Light Co. and was b to Irwin W., Sr., and Julia Coe Pike in White- haven, Penn., Aug. 12, 1898. He m Ruth M. Cole and she was b in Garland Jan. 19, 1900, the d of Frank A. and Lizzie Davis Cole. Mr. Pike g from Monmouth (Me.) Academy and she g from Foxcroft Academy. They had one s, Irwin W., 3rd, b in D-F Aug. 5, 1926. He entered World War II in Nov. 1944 and served with the field artillery. He served two years, 14 months of which was in the Philippines, and was honorably discharged with the grade of corporal, and is a Veteran of Foreign Wars. Mrs. Pike is employed in the local business office of the N. E. T. & T. Co. Irwin W. Pike, Jr., died Oct. 21, 1932.


FRANK I. PINGREE, overseer of the spinning room in the Cummings Woolen Mill, Newport, was b near "Pingree's Center" in Parkman Dec. 15, 1882, the s of Ireson I. and Addie Severance Pingree. He m Miss Lillian Libby and she was b to Larry J. and Josephine Moen Libby in Fox- croft Apr. 4, 1887. Mr. Pingree g from Sangerville High school, and Mrs. Pingree g from Foxcroft High school. Ch: (1) Bertrand F., b in Dover May 26, 1905, m Janet Patter- son of Pennsylvania and they have Preston F., b in Charles- ton, S. C., Jan. 11, 1942. Bertrand F. was with the Marine Corps in World War II and honorably discharged with the rank of top sergeant. He is now manager of a monumental works in Philadelphia. MAX E. PLACE, chief clerk in the general storekeeper's office of the Bangor & Aroostook R. R. at Derby, was b in Dover- Foxcroft Jan. 2, 1909, the s of Willard B. and Minnie A. Eddy Place. He was g from Foxcroft Academy in 1925, and on Sep. 14, 1946 m Miss Anne M. Dwyer, a school teacher, and b to Harry C. and Hattie M. Drew Dwyer in Oakfield. Mr. Place was in service in World War II with Headquar- ters, 2nd Military Railway Service, European Theater; England, France, Belgium. Honorably discharged with rank of master sergeant. He belongs to the American Legion. Republican. United Baptist.


WILLARD BURTON PLACE was b to Valentine Brainard and Elizabeth Marsh Place in Gloversville, N. Y., May 1, 1867. Before coming to Maine around 1902 he was a glove fin- isher; after taking up residence in Maine he was employed by the Bangor & Aroostook R. R. in their shops for many years. MAYNARD D. POOLE, a farmer on the Dover-East Dover road, was b in Dover Aug. 27, 1886, the s of William E. and Abbie E. Foss Poole. He m Ethel Martin, who was b to Melvin F. and Ella P. Greeley Martin in Charleston Nov. 22, 1885. One d, Elinor M., b in Brownville Sep. 21, 1917, g from Foxcroft Academy in 1935 and from Aurora (Ill.) College in 1940. She has taught school for six years and now teaching mathematics in the N. H. Fay High school for the third year. All three belong to the Advent Christian church.


DAVID K. POTTER, testman for the New England Telephone & Telegraph Co., was b in Greenville Feb. 19, 1903, the s of Joseph and Agnes Jardine Potter. He m Miss Doris Dunton, who was b to Walter S. and Evie Ellis Dunton in Moscow June 4, 1911. They have two d, June A., b in Greenville June 24, 1929, and Lois D., b in Milo Mar. 30, 1932. Currier and she was the d of John O. and Delia Marsh Currier and b in Sangerville Oct. 19, 1874. Mr. Potter is now deceased. They had one d, Helen A. Potter, b Apr. 21, 1918. She m Harold S. Pratt of Dover South Mills and they had Harold Sands Pratt, b July 27, 1940, David Russell Pratt, b Aug. 22, 1941, and Shirley Marie Pratt, b Oct. 15, 1942.


ADELBERT M. PRATT, a farmer, was b in Dover Oct. 13, 1874, s of Leonard W. and Elizabeth Lyford Pratt. He m Helen Brown, who was b to Stephen D. and Emma Rogers Brown in Foxcroft Feb. 21, 1875. He is a veteran of World War I, belongs to the American Legion and is Past Commander of Chadbourne-Merrill Post; also is a Mason. Aug. 31, 1921 he m Hazel White of Bangor and she died July 25, 1923. On June 16, 1926 he m Mildred M. Pills- bury, a school teacher, who was b to Byron J. and Etta M. Follett Pillsbury in Garland May 22, 1901. She g from the Garland High school, and then g from the Farmington State Normal school in 1922. She belongs to the American Legion Auxiliary and is secretary of it. No children.


LLOYD W. PRATT, farmer, was b in Dover-Foxcroft Aug. 22, 1913, s of Adelbert and Helen Brown Pratt. He m Fern Stevens, who was b to Pearl C. and Olive Chambers Stevens in Garland Mar. 4, 1918. Ch: Gloria, b in D-F Feb. 19, 1941, and Gordon L., b in D-F June 6, 1942. They reside on the crossroad from the Towne farm to the Meisner farm.


MERTON W. PRATT, a mechanic in the Sanborn & Sanford garage department, was b in Foxcroft Nov. 17, 1898, the s of Adelbert M. and Helen Brown Pratt. He g from Fox- croft Academy in 1919, and from the Michigan State Auto- mobile School in Detroit, Mich., in 1921. He m Gladys M. Thompson of D-F, the d of Charles and Clara Folsom Thompson. EDWARD C. PREBLE, s of Clayton T. and Nellie Ritchie Preble, is a lumberman and was b at Barnard Apr. 8, 1911. He m Miss Louise Bishop, who was b to Joseph and Louise Bishop at West Enfield Aug. 12, 1915. He m Miss Dorothy Howard, who was b in Dover-Foxcroft Oct. 19, 1919, the d of Elwood and Bertha Bowen Howard. They have one s, Gary H., b June 1, 1943, and one d, Marilee, b Aug. 24, 1945.


GEORGE PRESSLEY, JR., was in the Army of World War I for three years and seven months. He is now a co-partner of "Our Taxi" public car service in Dover-Foxcroft. He was b in Ashville, N. C., Feb. 15, 1913, the s of George W. and Lavada Welch Pressley. He m Gertrude Johnston, who was b to Leon J. and Grace Wright Johnston in Bangor Aug. 16, 1923. Ch: Ruth Lavada, b Dec. 30, 1944, and George Pressley, Jr., b July 2, 1946.


WLLIAM B. PUISES, employed in the Stowell-MacGregor spool factory, was b in Lithuania Mar. 12, 1894, the s of William and Mary Puises. He came to America in 1911. Mr. Puises m Gertrude Urbaitis, who was b to Anthony and Mary Arvinelis Urbaitis in Lithuania Feb. 16, 1896. She had come to America in 1901. They had one d, Violet A., b in D-F Dec. 22, 1915, and g from Foxcroft Academy in 1933. At Glendale, Calif., on Aug. 4, 1939 Violet A. m Carroll Judkins of D-F. Mrs. Judkins died in D-F July 3, 1940.

WILLIAM ABRAM PURINGTON, M. D., was b to Dr. An- drew and Mary Close Purington in Levant Apr. 7, 1867. After attending Pittsfield Academy he went to Chicago, where he received his medical training at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of the University of Illinois. He first practiced in Chicago for a time and then came to Ox- ford, Me., and did likewise. In 1899 he came to Sangerville and practiced for fifteen years. From Sangerville he went to Dover-Foxcroft in 1915 and enjoyed a large practice until failing health forced him to retire late in 1943, and where he passed away on Apr. 17, 1944. He served as school physician, and in World War I was examining physician for the local draft board. He had been a member of the Ken- duskeag Masonic Lodge for 50 years, and of the Piscata- quis Chapter, R. A. M., of St. John's Commandery; Knights Templar and Anah Temple of the Shrine, both of Bangor. He also belonged to the Masonic Club of Dover-Foxcroft. In July of 1900 Dr. Purington m Miss Susan Weeks of Chi- cago, who through all the years was a loyal helpmate. She has been an active member of the Methodist church, and a supporter of every worthy cause wherever they have re- sided, and in all of this she had the doctor's hearty financial and sympathetic support.


JOHN K. RACILA, oil truck driver for Chase & Kimball, was b in Millinocket May 17, 1911, s of Matthew L. and Clemen- tina Klimavicz Racila. He m Miss Gladys Bartlett, the d of Irving T. and Clara Russell Bartlett and b in Masardis May 29, 1916. They have one s, Robert John Racila, b in Milo Mar. 4, 1940. This family resides on Summer Street.


JOHN O. RACINE, woolen mill weaver, was b in Bedford, Can- ada, Apr. 1, 1879, the s of Louis and Edwidge Racine. He m Edith Shaw of Dover and she was b Feb. 20, 1883. Her par- ents were Fred A. and Annie Harmon Shaw. Ch: (1) Annie, b July 15, 1902, m Lawrence Hersey of Dover-Foxcroft. She died May 30, 1929, leaving six ch: John F., Edward R., Juanita M., Barbara L., Ronald P., and Arland L. (2) Ina, b Nov. 20, 1904, m Leon Spearin of Portland. HARRY A. RAY, a woolen mill man, was b in Dover Oct. 24, 1869, the s of Heman A. and Louisa L. Nason Ray. June 13, 1894 he m Minnie E. Silver, who was b in Dexter Oct. 5, 1866, the d of Stephen O. and Sarah A. Cleaves Silver. He was a member of the Kineo Lodge of IOOF, and the El Dorado Encampment; she belongs to the First Piscataquis Spiritualist Association, and both were members of the Wi- nona Rebekah Lodge and Central Grange. Mr. Ray died Apr. 16, 1944.


JASPER A. REED, Western Union telegraph operator at Dover- Foxcroft since Dec. 1937, was b to John R. and Gertrude Shannon Reed at Fort Fairfield Apr. 6, 1914. Graduated from Merrill High school in 1931. In 1935 he m Miss Max- ine P. White, d of Clinton and Mabel Henry White and was b at Fort Fairfield Jan. 30, 1913. They have two ch: Rob- ert C., b Mar. 26, 1939, and Winston F., b Sep. 15, 1943. Mr. Reed is Piscataquis County Treasurer for the Red Cross. Baptist. Republican.


JAMES THOMAS REYNOLDS, woolen mill loom fixer, was b to James and Annie Sheridan Reynolds in Sherbrooke, P. Q., Feb. 5, 1860. His wife was the former Mary A. Philpot, b in Orneville May 29, 1871, the d of Frank L. and Rose A. Beal Philpot. Ch: (1) Harry D., b in Dover-Foxcroft Mar. 22, 1890. He m Edna (Degerstrom) Hisman of Mon- son. (2) Thomas J., b in Dover-Foxcroft June 4, 1891, and m Annie Cowie, a native of Scotland. They had one d, Mary W. Reynolds, b Oct. 14, 1920. She m Everett Hutch- inson of Portland and they have Barry P., b Apr. 21, 1944; William E., b Sep. 27, 1945, and Bruce E., b July 4, 1947.


ALLAN C. RICE, a blacksmith, and a veteran of World War I, was b in Hartland, Vt., Sep. 16, 1894, the s of Henry and Alma Rice. He m Vera B. (Pomroy) Metivier, who was b to Warren A. and Charlotte N. grandparents. He m Miss Leona Coy, who was b to For- rest H. and Mattie Drake Coy in Monson Mar. 23, 1900. They have Sumner Fernald, b Aug. 7, 1934; Gaylon F., b Feb. 5, 1936, and Sylvia M., b Mar. 15, 1939. Mr. Richards g from Foxcroft Academy and attended the University of Maine two and one half years. He belongs to the Grange, Masons, IOOF and Eastern Star. He teaches voice and piano. Mrs. Richards g from Guilford High school and Farmington Normal school. She belongs to the Eastern Star and Grange, and shortly will be a Past Matron of the Eastern Star.


WILLIAM A. RICHARDSON, manager Merrill Trust Co. at Dover-Foxcroft, was b in Bangor Jan. 22, 1907, the s of James A. and Beatrice Farnham Richardson. Graduated from Bangor High school in 1926, Kent's Hill Seminary in 1927. Served in U. S. Navy in World War II. Congrega- tionalist. July 27, 1929 he m Ellen Pendleton, who was b in Bangor, the d of Chester E. and Grace Hutchinson Pen- dleton. They have one s, James William Richardson, b Feb. 15, 1931.


GEORGE WILLIAM RICKER, veteran of World War I, is a farmer on the Dover-Milo main road, and was b in Milo Apr. 26, 1892, the s of Edward and Annie Deverell Ricker. LEWIS POLLARD ROBERTS, University of Maine extension service County Agricultural Agent, was b in Sherman Mills Nov. 13, 1906, the s of Judson A. and Minerva Royal Rob- erts. He m Miss Rozilla Morton, d of Ernest Winthrop and Ethel Burrowes Morton and b in Johnstown, Penn., Aug. 7, 1912. Mr. Roberts was g from the University of Maine in 1930. Mrs. Roberts g from Wheelock Training School in 1933 and taught kindergarten and the primary grades in Cumberland Ctr. before being m. They have David Lewis Roberts, b in Milo Hospital June 22, 1938.


EARL W. ROBINSON, employed on the M. A. Sanborn farms, was b to Stephen and Susan Burgoyne Robinson in Charles- ton June 8, 1913. He m Miss Marguerite W. Hanson and

she was b in Guilford July 21, 1912, the d of Lester A. and Adelma Hall Hanson. They have one s, Earl S., b in Milo Hospital Apr. 30, 1946.


GORDON R. ROBINSON, wholesaler in seafoods, was b in Coaticook, Que., Apr. 30, 1907, the s of Samuel H. and Eliza Leadbeater Robinson. He m Miss Elsie Judkins, who was b to Evander C. and Eva Fortier Judkins in Carthage May 30, 1908. She g from Dixfield High school in 1927. They have two s, Gordon R., Jr., b July 13, 1931, and Willard C., b June 30, 1935.


LEONARD H. ROBINSON, a harness maker and dealer, was b to Henry A. (for many years a dentist in Dover-Foxcroft) and Adriana Stacy Robinson in Dover-Foxcroft Oct. 11, 1861. He m Alice Noyes and she was b in Atkinson Oct. 22, 1878, the d of Charles and Hattie Daggett Noyes. Mr. Robinson attended Foxcroft Academy, and Mrs. Robinson attended Higgins Classical Institute. He died Mar. 31, 1940, and she died in Nov. 1915. Ch: (1) Zelma Adrianna was b July 13, 1902 and died June 27, 1903; (2) Henry C., b Nov. 2, 1905. He was with the Air Corps ground crew in World War II from 1942 to Sep. 1945, 23 months of which was in England. Since the war his work is in a local spool mill and is substitute engineer. (3) Kenneth E., b Aug. 5, 1907, g from Foxcroft Academy, and is now employed with the Charles Parker Co. in Meriden, Conn. Since the death of Mrs. Robinson in 1915, Miss Alice H. Robinson, a sister to Leonard H. Robinson, has been the housekeeper in the old homestead on Summer Street which has been in the Robinson family for ninety years.


STEPHEN S. ROBINSON, retired farmer, was b to Thomas and Emily Hughes Robinson at Castle Hill Apr. 4, 1880. He m Susie E. Burgoyne, the' d of Richard and Elsie Wise Burgoyne and b at Lambert Lake Feb. 8, 1887. Ch: (1) Madelene L., b Oct. 1, 1903, m Aubrey Bickmore of Charleston. By a previous m Madelene L. had Elaine F. Huntington and Gerald E. Huntington. Elaine F. m Idell Emery of D-F and they have Edward Idell, b Jan. 31, 1943, and Elwood L., b Nov. 23, 1946. Gerald E. Hunting- ton was honorably discharged from World War II with the rank of sergeant. (2) Bertha A., b Oct. 7, 1905, m Harold Wotton of Charleston, and they have Ruth, b June 12, 1922; Maurice, b June 27, 1923, and Mary Lou, b Jan. 13, 1930.

NELLIE (DAVIS) LIBBY ROGERS was b to Lewis G. and Jennie Kennedy Davis in Alton May 20, 1887. She was m to Leo Libby of Dover-Foxcroft and they had one s, Clar- ence Eugene, who was b Mar. 19, 1904 and m Winnifred Buck of Medford. They had Clarence Eugene, Jr., Willis E., Joanne and Dianne. In 1947 Clarence E., Jr., was m to Katherine Burns of Dover-Foxcroft. On Sep. 14, 1918 Nellie Davis Libby was m to Will Hiram Rogers of Atkinson, a car repairer in the B&ARR shops at Derby. Mr. Rogers was the s of Theron and Rozilla Christie Rogers and b Nov. 4, 1879. He died Dec. 2, 1941.


CHARLES H. ROLLINS, a carpenter, and for 24 years conduct- ing a shop on Essex Street, was b to William N. and Orissa Starett Rollins in China Oct. 22, 1860. He m Annie Fuller and she was b to Alonzo and Mary Tenney Fuller in St. Albans in Sep. 1867. They had one s, Arthur C., and he m Miss Bragdon of Sangerville. Mrs. Rollins died June 25, 1940.
