ROBERT F. WASHBURN, carpenter, was b in Belfast Jan. 8, 1918, the s of Fred F. and Hattie Johnson Washburn. He g from Foxcroft Academy and from the Wentworth Insti- tute, Boston. He m Norma Phelps, d of Henry W. and Ad- die Poquett Phelps, and b in South Hero, Vt., Aug. 18, 1922. She was g from Montpelier Seminary in Montpelier, Vt., and from Albany Business College, Albany, N. Y. Mr. Washburn belongs to the American Legion, and she be- longs to the Auxiliary. They have one s, Kent G., b Sep. 17, 1947.


ELIZA JANE WHITNEY WATERMAN, residing on Pleasant street, was b in Sebec Dec. 29, 1856, the d of William H. and Mary Morrill Whitney. In 1874 she was m to Frank E. Waterman, a well-known carriage painter, and b to Wil- liam and Livinnia Beal Waterman in Foxcroft Dec. 6, 1856. Mr. Waterman died Jan. 10, 1922. He m Ellen A. Warren, who was b to Alanson M. and Ellen M. Daggett Warren in Orneville Mar. 1, 1879. She is a g of Foxcroft Academy. They had two d, (1) Frances K., b in Allen Park, Colo. May 17, 1914, g from Foxcroft Academy, the Presque Isle State Normal school, and is now book- keeper in her father's store. (2) Dorothy E., b in Long Mont, Colo., Jan. 14, 1916. (Refer to Philip Anderson's item.) Mr. Webber belongs to the Masonic bodies, includ- ing the Royal Arch Chapter and the Central Council. Also a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Piscataquis Club. Mrs. Webber belong to the DAR, the Cosmopolitan Club, the Eastern Star, is a Past Matron of the Eastern Star Assn., a member of the Lend-a-Hand Club of the Universalist church.

FRANK C. WESTON, a farmer, was b to Clinton and Statira Dyer Weston in Foxcroft Nov. 7, 1886. He m Nellie Getchell, who was b to Elbridge W. and Freelove Dean Getchell in Minneapolis, Minn., Sep. 18, 1886. Ch: (1) Mal- colm G., b Feb. 15 ,1910. He is employed by the State Highway Dept. on bridge work. He m Calista Bridges of West Dover and they have four s, Hubert D., b Dec. 5, 1927, and he m Beverly Steeves of Sangerville, and they have a d, Brenda Jean; Herman M., b Sep. 27, 1930; Clin- ton C., b Mar. 26, 1932; Frank W., b Mar. 24, 1938. Shannon of Macwahoc and she was b Sep. 29, 1888, the d of Michael and Eva Whitney Shannon. MAYNARD J. WHITE, woolen mill carder, was b in Brownville Jct. Dec. 15, 1917, the s of Henry J. and Ula Smart White. He m Pauline McDermott, who was b to John and Elsie Davis McDermott in Sangerville Aug. 14, 1919. They have Janet, b Feb. 6, 1936, and LeRoy E., b June 19, 1937.


JOHN W. WHITE, painter and paperhanger, was b to Thomas and Mary Jane Pettingill White in Canaan, N. H., Dec. 6, 1871. He m Miss Elizabeth Thompson, who was b to Wil- liam G. and Sarah Jane Hoyt Thompson in Guilford June 14, 1873. No children. Wm. G. Thompson was a town official of Guilford for many years. The family is affw the Methodist church.


CLARENCE L. WILSON, trucking, was b in Guilford Feb. 7, 1909, the s of Alfred G. and Lizzie Merrill Wilson. He m Miss Ada Patterson of Smyrna Mills and b to Frederick and Livica Hicks Patterson July 7, 1910. Mr. Wilson is a member of the local fire department, and she is a g of Ab- bot High school and belongs to the Rebekahs. They have Farolyn L., b July 24, 1935.


WALTER A. WHITTEMORE, general insurance agent and Kelvinator dealer on South street, was b in Atkinson Apr. 7, 1889, the s of Ernest L. and Abbie S. Goodwin Whitte- more, and attended Foxcroft Academy. He m Emma A. Edgerly, the d of George W. and Sarah Steadman Edgerly. She died Feb. 19, 1946, leaving no children. Mr. Whitte- more then in Effie. (Tennyson) VanCora, the d of George and Amanda Corwine Tennyson and b at Lake Dreene, Ind., Feb. 15, 1891. She attended the Tennyson schools and studied music at the Detroit, Mich., Conservatory of Music, and does private tutoring for voice and piano. (George Tennyson passed away and Amanda Corwine Tennyson later m Thomas P. Sibrel of Tennyson, Ind.) Mrs. Whittemore has a d, Fabian Vallade, by her m to Eugene Vallade, now of Detroit, Mich. HARRY S. WHITTIER, doing general trucking and a long-time member of the local fire department, was b to Frank H. and Flora Thompkins Whittier in Foxcroft Nov. 8, 1890. He m Miss Helen Gould, who was b in Dover in Aug. 1894, the d of Gilman and Susan Cross Gould. They have one d, Emily Lucille, b in D-F.


EUGENE ALFRED WHITTREDGE, D. S., was b to Daniel ·Martin Whittredge and Maria Ellen Russ Whittredge in Foxcroft Dec. 5, 1878. Mr. Whittredge g from Tufts Dental College and has practiced in Dover-Foxcroft since 1904. He is a Mason and has held several Masonic offices. Nov. 29, 1917 he m Mary E. Gorham, who was b to Melvin W. and Ella M. Hobbs Gorham in Brownville. Congregational- ist. Republican.


ALLIE WILLARD, woodsman, now engaged as traffic police- man, was b to Edward T. and Amanda Ellis Willard in Dover-Foxcroft June 4, 1886. He m Elsie Chase, who was b in Foxcroft July 20, 1884, the d of Joseph W. and Olivera Parsons Chase. They have no children, but by a previous m Mr. Willard has Charles A., b July 2, 1920, single, who was in World War II four years and five months; Bernice, b Nov. 13, 1915, m Minor Page of Guilford, and he was killed in World War II.


ALVAH H. WILLIAMS was a wool sorter in a local woolen mill. He was b in South Dover Mar. 28, 1870, the s of Henry and Celissa Sinclair Williams. He m Jennie C. Cummings, d of Peter and Melissa Page Cummings, and b in Parkman Nov. 7, 1869. Mr. Williams died Jan. 26, 1946. They had one s, Harley S., b June 1, 1892. He m Doris Bickford of Bangor and they had one s, James L. Williams. Harley S. Williams died Apr. 26, 1947. The second ch, An- nie C. Williams, b Nov. 10, 1893, m Roy E. Russell of Dex- ter and they have Ruth N., Margaret M., Mayland W., Roy E. and Alvah F.

WILLIAMS taught school in Maine for several years, was principal of the Noah Torrey grammar school in South Braintree, Mass., and finally was superintendent of a school district which included Wenham, Essex, Middle- ton, Hamilton and Topsfield, Mass. Mr. Williams was b in Bradford June 14, 1869, the s of Henry and Lizzie McGray Williams. He m Nellie Genthner, who was b to Benj. T. and Annie Whittier Genthner in Foxcroft July 10, 1869. They had one d, Helen G., b in Eastport June 2, 1900. She g from Beverly, Mass., High school and is now office secre- tary to Dr. W. E. McDougal. Mr. Williams died Dec. 18, 1936.


MATTHEW WILLIAMS, lawyer, was b in Guilford Apr. 10, 1906, the s of John S. and Helen Montgomery Williams. Graduated from Guilford High school in 1924, University of Maine in 1928, Peabody Law School in 1937. Oct. 4, 1930 he m Ruby Carlson of Monson and she was b to Hugh and Astrid Hansen Carlson June 16, 1907. Christian Scien- tist. Republican. Kiwanis Club. Former county and town chairman of Red Cross. Member of School Board, Water District. Draft Board Advisor. ERVIN C. WINGATE, a farmer at Sebec Corner, was b at Se- bec Jan. 15, 1888, on the same farm that was owned and operated by his father and grandparents. His parents were Charles E. and Emma Johnston Wingate. He g from Fox croft Academy in 1906, is a member of the Masons, is a veteran of World War I and belongs to the American Le- gion. Both he and Mrs. Wingate belong to the Piscata- quis Grange. Mr. Wingate m Eutilla S. Blodgett, who was b to Preston L. and Sarah Irish Blodgett in Barnard Apr. 11, 1915. They have Sarah Frances Wingate, b Nov. 28, 1941.


GEORGE CHASE WINGATE has been a State Road Super- visor in Maine since May 1, 1920. He was b in Sebec May 10, 1884, and his parents were Charles E. and Emma O. Johnston Wingate.
