He m Vera (Gray) Macomber, widow of George Macomber, who died in 1914. She was the d of Oscar H. and Ada Anderson Gray and b in D-F Oct. 13, 1885. Mr. Crocker belongs to the Masons and she to the Eastern Star. They are Methodists.

CAPTAIN CHARLES E. CROCKETT was a steamboat captain on Sebec Lake for many years. He was b in Foxcroft Sep. 7, 1859, the s of Ansel G. and Sarah Barrows Crockett. Mr. Crockett died Sep. 15, 1935. His wife was the former Ada Ann Badger and she was b in Willimantic July 4, 1861, the d of John A. and Cordelia Packard Badger. Ch: (1) Annie S., b Feb. 18, 1882, m Lyndon Turner of Willimantic. One s, Ronald W., was b in Dover-Foxcroft May 3, 1915, g from Foxcroft Academy, and is employed by Chase & Kim- ball. He m Miss Verna Levensalor of D-F.

WALTER W. CURTIS, for 21 years State Highway patrolman, now employed in a local woolen mill, was b to George S. and Mary Campbell Curtis in Kingsbury Apr. 27, 1893. He m Flora Mabel Pratt, b in Sebec Jan. 14, 1900, the d of Herbert F. and Carrie Knowles Pratt. One d, Marilyn F., was b in Skowhegan Nov. 2, 1926. Mrs. Curtis and Mari- lyn F. are g of Foxcroft Academy and both are school teach- ers, and members of the Baptist church. All three belong to the Wellington Grange. Mr. Curtis is a veteran of World War I and served eleven months overseas. He is a member of the American Legion.


CLARENCE G. CUSHMAN, a partner in the Maple Spring Bottling Works, was b in Stonington, Conn., Dec. 10, 1897, the s of Charles G. and Eva Lawton Cushman. He served in the Navy of World War I, and during the World War II was chief clerk in the local office of the "O. P. A." Apr. 2, 1943, he m Inez (Sherman) Flint, and she was b to Willis M. and Annie Wing Sherman in Foxcroft Apr. 2, 1903, and g from Foxcroft Academy in 1921. Mrs. Cushman has one s, John W. He m Margaret Craig Polk and she was b to Alexander and Jessie Craig Polk in Nelson, N. B., Dec. 6, 1879. Mr. Davee belongs to the Masons and Shrine. They are affiliated with the Methodist church. LEON A. DAVIS, truck driver, was b to Manley J. and Blanche Atwood Davis in Sangerville May 5, 1921. He m Miss Mar- garet Wheaton, the d of Elias and Edna M. Libby Whea- ton and she was b in Dover-Foxcroft May 12, 1924. They have one d, Brenda Louise, b Apr. 21, 1944.


THOMAS ERNEST DAVIS, a South Dover farmer, was b in Prince William, N. B., Feb. 16, 1886, the s of Henry and Margaret Saunders Davis. Sep. 28, 1921 he m Miss Ethel Crawford, who was b to John E. and Annie Fisher Craw- ford in Caribou Apr. 9, 1889. Mr. Davis was g from the Prince William schools, and Mrs. Davis was g from the Caribou High school. She also g from the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Mass., and has done con- siderable nursing throughout this county since they moved from Caribou to South Dover in the spring of 1922.


WILLIAM B. DAVIS, farmer and lumberman, was b in Fox- croft Apr. 21, 1879, the s of Hiram S. and Hattie Marble Davis. His wife was the former Sylvia Crockett and was b to Elbridge T. and Lucy Sanders Crockett in Foxcroft Nov. 23, 1881. Both are g from Foxcroft Academy. William B., Jr., their s, was b Nov. 29, 1919 and g from Foxcroft Acad- emy in 1937. He was attached to the military police division for four years in World War II and served 31 months in India. He is now employed as a jeweler. He and his mother are Universalists.


PERCY F. DAY, a Main Street jeweler, was b to Charles E. and Adelle Stevens Day in Dover-Foxcroft Oct. 8, 1889, and g from Foxcroft Academy. In 1928 he m Ethel (Demo) Met- calf, who was b in Montague City, Mass., Oct. 31, 1888, the d of Adair and Virginia Clark Demo. They are Methodists. Republicans. HERBERT S. DeWITT, photographer, was b in Dover-Fox- croft, Mar. 4, 1920, the s of Percy E. and Flossie Hibbard DeWitt. Mar. 4, 1944, in England, he m Miss Dwen Tuck, who was b to Arthur K. and Edith Tuck in Teddington, England, Sep. 6, 1920. Mr. DeWitt is a veteran of World War II, having served in the 8th Air Force.


NORMAN E. DEXTER was b in Dover Mar. 10, 1896, the s of Horace Elwin and Ellen Francis Varney Dexter. He was g from Foxcroft Academy and the Bliss Electrical School in Washington, D. C., and is an electrical engineer. He m Jeannette Arnold, who was b in Monson May 9, 1915. They reside on Pleasant Street.


SEAFORTH B. DICKSON, a veteran of World War I, is Dis- trict Supervisor of Highways for the State. He was b in Trenton, N. S., June 25, 1891, the s of John and Martha Woodin Dickson. Mr. Dickson m Grace Hager, d of David P. and Anna C. Hassell Hager and b in Sebec June 20, 1888, and g from Milo High school in 1906. Ch: (1) Martha Anna, b Dec. 20, 1920, g from Milo High school in 1939, and from the Trull School of Nursing, Biddeford, in 1943. She served with the ANC overseas with the rank of 1st Lieut., and since the war has been employed in Florida. (2) Phyllis, b Apr. 24, 1922, was g from Milo High school in 1940, and from the Maine School of Commerce in 1942. She is now employed in the office of P. E. Ward & Co., Dover-Foxcroft.


SAMUEL ERLON DILL, JR., retired, was employed by the Moosehead Tel. & Tel. Co. for 35 years, the last four years of which was as wire chief. He was b in Deering Sep. 5, 1875, the s of Samuel E. and Ada Tate Dill. He is a Mason and a Past Master of Mosaic Lodge No. 52. On Apr. 18, 1905, he m Anna I. Wentworth, who was b to Howard and Anna Nickerson Wentworth in Orrington Nov. 5, 1874. Mrs. Dill passed away on May 21, 1947, leaving no children.


ARTHUR C. DINSMORE, the s of Allen A. and Lucy Elliott Dinsmore, was b in Dover May 15, 1908 and g from Fox- croft Academy in 1927. He m Miss Arlene Lary, who was b to Albert C. and Lena Libby Lary in Foxcroft Nov. 9, 1911. They have one s, Jack Norman Dinsmore, b Apr. 26, 1931. WALLACE A. DONALD was a barber and a painter, and was b in Sebec Sep. 27, 1865, the s of Edgar and Rosella Dow Donald. He m Carrie Dean and she was b to Valentine and Veltine Dean in Barnard Oct. 17, 1866. Mr. Dean died Feb. 12, 1919, leaving Mrs. Dean with three ch: (1) Effie, b Aug. 18, 1891, m Harry Skillin of Garland and they have Ruth and Marilyn; (2) Eva, b Dec. 2, 1893, m Paul Libby and they have Donald, Kenneth, Herbert, Thelma and Philip; (3) Bernice, b Apr. 27, 1897, m Cedric Soper and they have Cedric, Carolyn, Earl and Dorothy.


CYRUS H. DOORE, with 47 years railroad service and now car inspector for the MCRR at D-F, was b in Charleston Feb. 9, 1881, the s of Lorenzo M. and Delphina Hall Doore. Nov. 28, 1922 he m Elizabeth R. Robichaud, who was b at Richibucto, N. B., Apr. 10, 1894. They have an adopted d, June E., b at D-F June 5, 1934. By a previous m Mr. Doore has four ch: Kenneth L., Mary E., Mildred and Lena-all married. Mr. Doore belongs to the I. O. O. F. and K. of P. lodges.


IRA ANDREW DOORE, a retired farmer, was b to the late Edwin and Eliza Ellen Wiggin Doore Nov. 27, 1876, on a farm that was cleared by his grandfather in East Dover, and on which four generations of the family has been born. Mr. Doore m Harriett Ayer, a g of Dover High school, and b in Dover May 20, 1878, the d of Benjamin S. and Lucetta Twombly Ayer. Ch: (1) Verlie L., b Apr. 3, 1905, m Leon Albert Hall of Atkinson, and they have Gweneth Ann, b Sep. 30, 1931, and Nathan Edgar, b Feb. 28, 1935; (2) Marion Ayer Doore, b Mar. 4, 1911, has taught school for 15 years; (3) Marjorie Ellen Doore, b Jan. 18, 1912, was a store clerk for several years and for the last six years has been em- ployed in the editorial office of the "Piscataquis Observer." Verlie, Marion and Marjorie are g of Foxcroft Academy. Because of their distinct musical ability the latter two are much in demand as soloists in town and the surrounding territory. Mr. Doore has been a member of the Grange for 57 years, belongs to the I. O. O. F. and Encampment and is the present Master of Mosaic Lodge of Masons No. 52.

JOHN PARSONS DOW was b to Lorenzo G. and Maria Haskell Dow in East Dover Apr. 27, 1860. He lived in Atkinson several years and served that town as Selectman for eleven years, nine of which was as Chairman of the Board. His first wife was Hattie Hall of Dover. She died and he then m Nora L. Crommett, the d of John and Maria Blake Crom- mett. No living children.


LeROY P. DOW, hardwood-mill operator, was b in Bowerbank Sep. 24, 1893, the s of Alfred P. and Leta Parsons Dow. He m Miss Margaret Stoddard, who was b to Eugene O. and Estelle B. Stoddard in Guilford Nov. 23, 1895. Both g from Foxcroft Academy in 1914. Ch: (1) Malcolm S., b Feb. 10, 1916, enlisted in World War II and served two and a half years with the Seabees in the Pacific area. He m Beryl Heskeith of Derby and they have one s, Malcolm L. Mr. Stoddard is now employed by the Central Maine Power Co. (2) Alfred E., b Feb. 25, 1917, enlisted in war service on Mar. 3, 1941, and was Staff Sergeant when killed in the battle of Bismark sea on Mar. 3, 1943. (3) Dorothy M., b Sep. 24, 1918, g from Farmington Normal school and taught school for several years. She m Virgil A. Warren of D-F and he was in the Army three years. RALPH M. DOW, a farmer, was b to Lewis H. and Lillian Mitchell Dow at East Dover May 8, 1912, and attended Foxcroft Academy. He m Miss Lucy Stanhope, who was b in Wellington Jan. 24, 1917, the d of LeRoy and Zenobia Allen Stanhope. Ch: David A., b July 6, 1940; Doris V., b Mar. 18, 1942, and died from accidental burns Oct. 30, 1943; Ralph M., Jr., b July 24, 1943, and Andrew S., b Nov. 30, 1946.


WALLACE DOW, retired farmer and lumberman, is a descend- ent of the very first settlers of Dover, and was b to Increase K. and Angelia Blake Dow in Atkinson Oct. 18, 1867. He has served the town of Dover-Foxcroft as Selectman since 1911 except for a short break of eight months. He belongs to the I. O. O. F., Masons and the Grange. Mr. Dow m Mabel L. Titcomb and she was the d of Charles C. and Anna Towne Titcomb and b in East Dover. Ch: (1) Marion T. (see under Louis F. Brown); (2) Barbara A., single; (3) Geraldine S., m Earl Miller of Dedham. Marion and Ger- aldine are g of Foxcroft Academy.


CHESTER O. DOWNS, employed in the Fay & Scott Machine shops in Dexter, was b in Dover-Foxcroft July 27, 1917, the s of Maurice O. and Olive E. Call Downs. Mr. Downs served in the Army of World War II, and belongs to the Masons. He m Miss Gladys Doore, who was b to Clifford H. and Laura Farmer Doore in Atkinson Nov. 2, 1917. Ch: Joyce M., b May 30, 1939; Gloria Jean, b July 11, 1943, and Rebecca A., b Aug. 16, 1946.

ARTHUR CHESTER DYER, Register of Deeds for Piscataquis County since Apr. 1, 1927, was b to Israel Sumner Dyer and Georgianna Coombs Dyer in Atkinson May 10, 1879. He g from Foxcroft Academy in 1899. Congregationalist. Republican. Mason. Sep. 9, 1907 he m Helen Ford, who was b in Milo Feb. 24, 1881, the d of Louis Caleb Ford, M. D., and Antoinette Perkins Ford. Mrs. Dyer served as Town Clerk in Dover-Foxcroft 1928-1944. Their ch: (1) Caleb F. Dyer, b in Milo Oct. 10, 1908, is a high school principal.
