ELMER E. EDGERLY, a South Dover farmer, was b in South Dover Aug. 13, 1892, the s of Elwood and Emma Buzzell Edgerly. ERNEST D. ELDRIDGE, proprietor of the "Community Gro- cery Store" in Dover-Foxcroft, was b in Corinna June 29, 1880, the s of David C. and Agnes R. Gray Eldridge. Sep. 13, 1930 he m Abbie Huntington, who was b to Eugene F. and Myrtie Larrabee Huntington in Bradford Oct. 11, 1896. No children.


GEORGE C. ELMS, a marble cutter, was b to William and Margaret Moore Elms in Sherbrook, P. Q., Sep. 18, 1861. Apr. 4, 1883 he m Harriett Frances Berce, the d of Charles D. and Abbie Sophia Luce Berce, and b in Dover Aug. 22, 1865. Mr. Elms died Feb. 22, 1888, leaving his widow with two ch, James William and Mary Norma Elms. James was b July 21, 1885, and on Oct. 6, 1911, m Ellen Keogh of Day- ton, Ohio. RUTH ANDERSON EMBREE, residing on Main St., was b in Monson Oct. 17, 1916, the d of Everett J. and Aldena Min- nette Anderson, and attended Foxcroft Academy. She was m to Robert F. Embree, a welder, of Boston, and they have Deanna, b in Boston, Mass., Oct. 25, 1941, and Dawn, b in Boston, Mass., Mar. 23, 1943.


RALPH STANTON EMERSON, M. D., was b in Foxcroft Feb. 14, 1912, s of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Edna (Savage) Emerson. When six years of age he moved with his parents to East Orange, N. J., where he attended the public schools, graduating from East Orange High school in 1929. The next two years he attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va., then transferred to Cornell University at Ithaca, N. Y. While in college he was active in sports, in- cluding baseball, basketball and wrestling. In 1933 he re- ceived his A. B. degree from Cornell University and in 1936

M. D. from Cornell Medical College in New York City. Dr. Emerson interned at Brooklyn Hospital and was resident surgeon at Meadowbrook Hospital, Hempstead, L. I., until 1940, when he took up residence at Roslyn Heights, L. I., and began private practice. Dr. Emerson entered the U. S. Army in Jan. 1944 and served in general hospitals in Wim- borne-Munster, southern England, France and Germany, serving as orthopedic and general surgeon and surgical con- sultant to the 78th Division in Germany. Following the war he served as general surgeon at Ft. Jay Hospital, N. Y., and chief of surgical service at Staten Island Area Hospital and Fort Monmouth Hospital. He was discharged from the U. S. Army in Nov. 1946. Dr. Emerson has a private surgical practice in Roslyn Heights and Glen Cove, L. I., N. Y., and resides at 115 Warner Ave., Roslyn Heights. He is divisional chief of the surgical service at North Country Community Hospital, Glen Cove, a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, a member of Nassau Surgical Society, Nassau County Medical Society, New York State Medical Society, and a member of the medical board, North Country Com- munity Hospital, a member of Kiwanis Club in Roslyn and deacon of Roslyn Presbyterian church. JAMES H. FABIAN, manager of the local First National Store, was b in Derby July 23, 1915, the s of Andrew and Alfreda Holbrook Fabian. He m Madalyne F. Hall, who was b to Millage W. and Mildred Bean Hall in Millinocket Sep. 6, 1919. He g from Milo High school in 1932, and she from the same school in 1938. NATHANIEL S. FAIRBROTHER, scaler for the Great Northern Paper Co., was b in Shirley May 16, 1891, the s of Willard and Mary Littlefield Fairbrother. He m Harriett Hurd and she was b to Samuel E. (Bert) and Fannie Clark Hurd in South Lincoln July 28, 1893. He g from Guilford High and she attended Foxcroft Academy. He was b in Lowell, Mass., Nov. 18, 1877, the s of John and Ann Owen Flynn. Aug. 12, 1912 he m Maude B. Day, who was b to Charles E. and Adella Orff Day in Dover-Foxcroft Jan. 15, 1880. They have no children.


J. CURTIS FLYNT, employed by the Bangor & Aroostook R. R., was b to William Walter and Fannie D. Curtis Flynt in Winn July 15, 1887. On June 19, 1911 he m Lena E. degree from the U. of M. On June 30, 1934 Willard C. m Kathelene McDonald of Smyrna Mills and they have one s, Willard Rogers Flynt. (2) Dorothy Adelia, b Nov. 30, 1924, g from Ricker Classical Institute in Houlton. Mar. 15, 1945 she was m to Edward Bliss Titcomb of Houlton and they have Edward Bliss Titcomb, Jr. Mr. J. Curtis Flynt is a Mason, Republican, and the family affw the Baptist church. June 11, 1921 Mr. Flynt entered the employ of the B&ARR as clerk in the mechanical department at Derby, and in 1924 was sent to Oakfield to open a branch office of the mechanical department and remained there in the ca- pacity of chief clerk for 22 years. From there he moved to Bangor and is now employed in the transportation depart- ment in the yard office at Northern Maine Jot. Mr. Flynt's father, grandfather, two uncles and cousins were station agents and telegraph operators and held some of the best stations on the MCRR and B&A. As a matter of record it should be stated that his father, W. W. Flynt, began his railroad career on the old Bangor & Piscataquis at Abbot Village in 1876. Then worked for the old E. & N. A. R. R. at Kingman. In 1882 he went to Bangor as train despatcher, and from there to Dover-Foxcroft as agent from Nov. 29, 1889. The first train into that town over the Maine Central was Dec. 31, 1889. William W. Flynt died in 1931 after over 40 years of railroad service.


DUDLEY E. FOLEY, (RFD No. 3), employed in the finishing department of the local woolen mill, was b in Orono Dec. 10, 1909, the s of Everett M. and Susan Warner Foley, and g from the Orono High school. He m Miss Ada Dow, who was b to Lewis H. and Lillian Mitchell Dow in D-F Sep. 12, 1906. They have Jean Ann, b Oct. 17, 1937. Mr. Foley belongs to the I. O. O. F. and the Encampment, and both belong to the Grange.


WILLIAM O. FOLSOM, a furniture salesman, was b in Auburn Nov. 25, 1912, the s of Oliver E. and Mary Dubay Folsom. He m Arlene Deag, who was b to Joseph and Olive Baker Deag in Dover-Foxcroft Oct. 3, 1912. Mrs. Folsom is a typist and notary public, and both are g from Foxcroft Academy. They have one s, James H. Folsom, b May 29, 1939. The family is Catholic.

She m John Lavensalor of D-F and they have one s, James Allen Levensalor, b Mar. 4, 1944.


THOMAS L. FOULKES, retired, sheriff of Piscataquis County 1929-1947, was b to John and Margaret Hughes Foulkes in Williamsburg May 10, 1876. He is a Republican, a member of the Masons, Shrine, Eastern Star and the Grange. Feb. 8, 1903 he m Nellie May Wingate, the d of Henry C. and Mary A. Morrison Wingate and b in Sebec Aug. 15, 1878. She is a member of the Eastern Star. No children.


JOSEPH E. FOWLER, weaver, s of Edward E. and Electra Bowley Fowler, was b June 17, 1900. He m Mabel M. Cas- tronova, who was b to Michael and Dorothy Castronova in Lee, Mass., Aug. 8, 1914. VERNIE B. FRANCIS, section foreman for the Bangor & Aroostook R. R., was b in Bradley July 24, 1905, the s of Benj. and Effie I. Richardson Francis. Nov. 9, 1929 he m Minnie Simpson, who was b to Wm. Graduated from Foxcroft Academy and Morse Business College, Hartford, Conn. Congregationalist. Republican. Member Kiwanis Club. Selectman, State Committeeman Republican State Committee. He m Beatrice Grant, who was b to Almon C. and Mildred Stone Grant in Dexter Jan. 24, 1910. She g from Guilford High school and Lesley Normal school, Cam- bridge, Mass. They have one d, Mary, b May 31, 1938. Mr. Gellerson has one d, Sally, and a s, Rex, by a previous marriage.


ALICE MARION GENTHNER was b in Dover-Foxcroft Feb. 13, 1882, the d of Benjamin Thomas and Annie Loretta Whittier Genthner. She attended Foxcroft Academy 1895- 1899, and took the public school music course at the New England Conservatory of Music. She was supervisor of public school music from 1909 to 1921 in Massachusetts towns; six years in the Maynard-Acton district and six years in Groveland and Merrimac. Following that she and her niece, Helen G. Williams, were partners in the Pine Tree Gift Shop in Dover-Foxcroft for nine years. Miss Genthner is affw the Congregational church, a member of

THOMAS W. GENTHNER was a farmer and dealer in thor- oughbred livestock, and was b in Parkman Apr. 21, 1861, s of David and Barbara Mckay Genthner. He m Miss Achsa M. Brown and she was b to William and Louisa Mckay Brown in P. E. I. Aug. 8 1870. They had one s, Raymond D., who is a barber and a druggist, and was b in Parkman Mar. 18, 1895. Genthner died in 1937.


HENRY T. GERRISH, assistant manager of the Prudential In- surance Company, was b in Brownville Sep. 24, 1909, the s of Hiram and Ethel Clark Gerrish. He g from the East Maine Conference Seminary in Bucksport in 1927, and from Bates College in 1931. In Feb. 1930 he m Louise Abbot, who was b to Chesley and Edna Harding Abbot in Scar- boro. She was g from Thornton Academy in 1924, and from Bates College in 1929. Ch: Marie L., b Nov. 15, 1930; Ethelyn M., b Nov. 17, 1932, and Hiram T., b Mar. 23, 1934. Mr. Gerrish is chapter chairman of the American Red Cross, a member of the local school board, supervisor of the Dover- Foxcroft Water Board, president of Tri-County Baseball League, and belongs to the Kiwanis Club, and affw the Congregational church.


ROBERT W. GETCHELL, laborer-woodsman, was b in Dover- Foxcroft Nov. 2, 1924, s of Maurice L. and Edith Perkins Getchell. He served in the Army of World War II and was stationed in Italy. His wife was the former Dorothy Shir- ley, and b to William A. and Ethel Williams Shirley in Woodland, Washington County, July 4, 1925. Ch: Cheryl V., b in Westbrook July 20, 1946, and John C., b in Dover- Foxcroft July 22, 1947.


ARTHUR LORING GILMAN, grain merchant, insurance mer- chant, was b in Dover-Foxcroft June 5, 1883, the s of Au- gustus William Gilman and Mary Loring Gilman. On July 26, 1916 he m Eva M. Gerry, who was b to B. Frank Gerry and Lottie Ellen Simpson Gerry in Minneapolis, Minn., on June 12, 1888. Members of D-F Congregational church. Republican. Mr. Gilman is a member of the Masons and

RALPH L. GILMAN, finish room employee in the Brown's Woolen Mills, was b in Dover-Foxcroft Mar. 1, 1887, the s of Fred E. and Eda Whitman Gilman. He m Gladys Duran, who was b to Albert L. and Josephine Lord Duran in East Dover Jan. 29, 1900. Ch: (1) Beth D., b Oct. 8, 1918; (2) Earl R., b Sep. 4, 1926, served three years in the Army, most of which was in Japan; (3) Marlene F., b Dec. 4, 1936, and (4) Joeene E., b Sep. 19, 1941. Mr. Gilman is a member of the East Sangerville Grange.


WENDELL N. GLIDDEN, JR., in the electrical refrigeration business, was b in Dover Sep. 7, 1918, the s of Wendell N., Sr., and Mabel Kneeland Glidden, and g from Foxcroft Academy. Sep. 28, 1940, in Calais, he m Colleen Allen, who was b to Wm. O. and Anna Lambert Allen in Burling- ton Aug. 10, 1920. They have one d, Nancy Ann, b in Ban- gor Sep. 10, 1946. Mr. Glidden served in the Naval Reserve three and one-half years and located at Pearl Harbor. Mrs. Glidden spent one year with him there.


LESTER A. GOODWIN was b to Alson W. and Lena Grant Goodwin in Garland Jan. 3, 1901. He was in the Army of World War I for eight months, and is a member of the American Legion; also the Spiritualist church. He was the founder of the "Our Taxi" public car service in Dover-Fox- croft June 12, 1944, and is a co-partner.


EARL R. B. GORDON, serviceman with P. E. Ward Co., was b in Biddeford May 16, 1905, the s of Charles G. and Rose Martin Blackden. When seven or eight years of age he was adopted by Harvey W. Gordon. He m Blanch M. Lancas- ter, who was b in Dexter to Albert F. and Carrie Tewks- bury Lancaster June 12, 1909. Mr. Gordon is Past Noble Grand of Kineo Lodge No. 64, I. O. O. F., and Past Chief Patriarch of the Eldorado Encampment. The family is Con- gregationalist, Mr. Gordon being a deacon in the Dover- Foxcroft church. They have one s, Wayne H. Gordon, b in Dexter Sep. 13, 1929.
