Served two terms as county attorney, Traverse Co .; appointed judge of the 16th judicial district, July, 1899, to succeed Judge C. L. Brown who was elected to the Supreme Court of the State; candidate for reelection in fall of 1900, but district went strongly Republi- can that year.
