from his office, April 17, 1877; married at New Lisbon, Wis., Dec. 31, 1878, to Miss Agnes L. Harris. Began practice of law at New Lisbon Wis., May 1. 1877; elected district attorney, Juneau Co., as a Democrat (normal Republican majority 475) and served 3 years; in 1881 became local attorney for Chicago, Milwaukee St. Paul and Chicago, St. Paul. Minneapolis & Omaha rail- ways, continuing to Sept. 1, 1887; was court commissioner from 1885 to Sept. 1, 1887, when he resigned, leaving the state; came to Crookston, Minn., 1887, and was appointed attorney for the St. Paul, Minneapolis & Manitoba Ry.
