Entered service as messenger boy in the accounting department of St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern Ry., 1879; with the St. Louis South- western Road, 1894-1900, holding vari- ous positions; came to Minneapolis in 1900, as chief clerk to auditor, continu- ing until April, 1903; since then auditor of The Minneapolis & St. Louis R. SCOTT, Louis N., theatre manager; born at Petersburg, Ky., May 10, 1859, son of Robert and Mary Ellen (Kon- neff) Scott; educated in common schools and business colleges. As a boy re- sided in Cincinnati, O., Evansville, Ind., and St. Louis, Mo .; at age of 16 em- barked in the steamboat business; after varied occupations came to St. Paul, where he established in the advertis- ing business in the Twin Cities and is now president of the Northern Display Advertising Company; also president of the Minnesota State Bill Posters' Asso- ciation, and an official in the Associated Bill Fosters' Association of the United States and Canada. For more than twenty years past has been prominent in the theatrical business; manager of the Metropolitan Opera House, St. Paul and Minneapolis, and of the Lyceum, Minneapolis. Member B. P. O. E. Came to Minneapolis, spring of 1874, and worked on salary in lumber yards and sawmills; located in Duluth and began on small scale in lumber business, in 1880; was member of Scott & Holston, lumber merchants, up to 1890, since then vice president and general manager of the Scott-Graff Lumber Co., wholesale manufacturers of lumber, lath shingles, sash, doors, moulding and interior finish, also deal- ers in timber lands in Minnesota and California. Be- gan active career as assistant to rail- way agent, 1883; was employed at vari- ous points on Chicago, St. Paul, Minne- apolis & Omaha and Chicago & North- western railways, until 1898; elected cashier Dunlap Brothers Bank at Led- yard, Ia., 1898; assisted in starting the City Bank of Goodhue, Goodhue, Minn., 1900, which was converted into the First National Bank of Goodhue, Feb. 13, 1904, of which is president.
