Remained on farm until he became of age, then engaged principally in the sale of farm lands in Central and Northern Iowa; in connection with land business ran a general and hardware store for three years, lumber yard for three years and private bank for four years in Dickin- son Co., Iowa; in 1901 organized the Great Northern Land and Stock Co. of St. Paul, handling farm lands, mortgage loans and live stock, of which he is now vice president and general manager.
