SCHNELL, Louis August William, grain and coal; born at Liebenwalde, Prussia, June 18, 1851; son of Louis and Louise (Blankenburg) Schnell; educated in public schools of Germany. Came to America, 1867, and located in Minnesota; began active career in employ of J. Himstedt & Co., grain, St. Charles, 1868; removed to Winona and was connected with Otto Sontag, 1870-76; in grain, seed and coal business, at St. Charles since Sept. 18, 1876. SCHOCH, Andrew, grocer; born in Germany, May 10, 1850; came to Amer- ica with his father, 1866, and lived in Carver Co., Minn., for several years. Located in St. Paul and was in employ of J. H. Hulsick, grocer, 1871-74; mem- ber of grocery firm of Schoch & Wech- sler, 1874-80, becoming proprietor, 1880, and so continuing until he admitted his sons to partnership, the firm being incorporated, 1890, under title of the Andrew Schoch Grocery Co., of which he is president.
