SCHADLE, Jacob Evans, physician; born at Williamsport, Pa., June 23, 1849; son of Michael and Phoebe (Sallade) Schadle; educated in common schools and State Normal School, Millersville, Pa., graduating, 1871; engaged in teach- ing and became superintendent of schools, Mifflinburg, Pa., 1876; studied medicine and grad. SCHAFFER, George F., merchant; born in Germany, June 11, 1848; son of Ulrich and Barbara (Theobald) Schaf- fer; common school education. Came to America, Nov. 13, 1852, and to Minne- sota, July 30, 1864. In harness business at St. Paul, 1865-70; clerk in store for Charles Eppel, Delano, Minn., 1870-84; associated in general merchandise busi- ness with F. A. Barth at Watertown, Minn., 1884; returned to Delano, 1887 and engaged in general merchandise business on his own account until Sept. 1, 1906, when his son was admitted into partnership, the title of the firm now being George P.
