Became managing member of the Sparta Mercantile Co., general merchandise, 1898, name being changed to Saari & Campbell, Inc., 1900, and Saari, Camp- bell & Kroker, Inc., 1905, which still continues, and of which he is president; member firm of Saari Bros., groceries and meats, Eveleth, since 1903. SACKETT, Addison L., milling; born at Plymouth, N. Y., Jan. 5, 1839; son of Dexter B. and Electa (Bement) Sack- ett; educated in Norwich (N. Y.) Acad- emy; married at Plymouth, N. ST. JOHN, Byron Eaton, president St. John Nursery Co .; born at Port Byron, Ill., July 27, 1845; son of Elisha Mer- rill and Matilda (Addison) St. John; educated in public and high schools of Wisconsin; married at Roscobel, Wis., Aug. 22. 1868, to Magdalene Houghtal- ing. Began active career as school teacher, and taught school for 20 terms in Wisconsin and Minnesota, removing to Minnesota. 1872; quit farming and teaching, 1891, and moved to Fairmont; owned, in partnership with the city. the electric light plant and operated it for 10 years. until 1902; started nursery, 1895, as the Fairmont Nursery, and in- corporated it, 1905, as the St. John Nur- sery Co., of which he has been president and manager from the beginning.
