The Report.

To the citizens of the Town of Norwood :-

The committee appointed to make investigations, and report to the town, with recommendations, as to the advisability of purchasing a new stone crusher and a suitable location for erecting and operating the same, beg to submit the following report :

We have visited and examined various locations that have

112

been brought to our attention, and have ascertained the price for which the owners were willing to dispose of the different lots; and having considered the location, cost and amount of stone on each, your committee would recommend that the town purchase the lot at the corner of Prospect and Myrtle streets, owned by the estate of Tyler Thayer, and the lot adjoining the above lot on the north of which Jas. M. Folan is trustee, at a price not to exceed twelve hundred (1200) dollars each.

The Thayer lot contains about one and one-third acres and the Folan lot about one and one-sixth acres.

Your committee has visited different stone crushing plants and have seen the different crushers in operation. We have ob- tained data as to the purchase price of the different makes of crusher, also on the cost of operating the same, and would recom- mend the purchase of a 11 by 22 inch Reliance crusher at a cost not to exceed $1700.00 complete.

We would recommend a 150 ton storage bin and that the crusher be operated by a 35 H. P. General Electric motor.

The estimated cost of land, crusher and motor, of erecting the storage bin and installing crusher and motor is as follows:

Cost of Crusher $1,700.00

Cost of Land. 2,400.00

Cost of Motor .550.00

Cost of Storage Bin. 650.00

Setting up Crusher and Motor 100.00

Total

$5,400.00

FREDERICK H. NUTTING, A. A. APPLEBY, PATRICK J. LYDON, GEO. A. SMITH, Committee.

Art. 2. Mr. James A. Hartshorn for the Selectmen made a verbal report on sale of town buildings; no action was taken as the report was one of information only.
