IV JAMES, 4 Dr., b. - [by 1st wife];§ m. 1st, Dec. 13, 1744[1 Hv chh], Susanna [or Hannah] Cogswell; 2d, Nov. 12, 1761[v], Ruth Brad- ley. A physician in Hv .; adm. 1 Hv. chh. July 6, 1746; served in the Rev .; d. at Valley Forge, Sept. 22, 1778, or possibly later, for he had been dead " near six years" in March, 1785. It is said that he had twenty chil., ten by each wife.
* A Mary was bp. Aug. 19, 1793, the same day (S) James3 was adm. to chh. t He was prominent among the original proprietors of Pennacook [Con- cord], N. H .; but he could not have lived there any length of time, though he was on committees and surveyor there 1727-30, and had a "house built and inhabited " there in 1731.
Chase's IIv. gives John, James, and Jeremiah Pecker among the Hv. pro- prietors or settlers of Concord in 1726. A Jeremiah Pecker, a prominent citi- xen of Concord, was b. ab. 1772. It would appear that (23) James4 was too Joung to be a proprietor. (2) Jas.2 was them living, and this Jeremiah was prob. of the third generation. James and Jeremiah do not appear in Bouton's Concord among the original settlers.
* The Ms. diary of a dau. of Rev. Sam. and Ann Chandler states that her mother d. Sept. 16, 1778. The diary of Rev. Mr. Chandler himself proves his relationship to the Pecker family.
5 There may have been one or two more chil. of (9) John3 by Ist wife; but if there were a Jeremiah+ who d. bef. 1735, he would be too young to be proprietor of Concord in 1726.
