At the annual Town Meeting held March 3, 1902. Chose Edmund H. Sears Moderator.

Voted-That the Selectmen appoint a Committee of three on Town Landings.


Voted-To grant license for the sale of Intoxicating Liquors for the ensuing year, Yes, 101; No, 87.


Voted-That the School Committee be authorized to pay one thousand dollars for tuition at Partridge Academy.


Voted-To accept List of Jurors as presented in Town Re- port by the Selectmen.


Voted -- That for the purpose of procuring a temporary loan to and for the use of the Town of Duxbury in anticipation of taxes of the present municipal year, the Town Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to borrow from time to time with the approval of a majority of the Selectmen, a sum or sums, in the aggregate amounting to twelve thousand (12,000) dollars, and to execute and deliver the note or notes of the Town, therefor, payable within one year from the time the loan is made, with interest thereon, at a rate not exceeding five (5) per cent. per annum.


Any debt, or debts, incurred by a loan, or loans, to the Town under this vote, shall be paid from the taxes of the present year.

Voted-That the Town proceed to build the highway laid out by the County Commissioners, and ordered built, to in- clude Mattakeesett Court, as soon as practical, and


Voted-To appropriate five hundred (500) dollars to cover expense of same.


Voted-To raise and' appropriate five hundred (500) dol- lars for repairs of Congress street and bridge from "Hank's Bridge," so called, to Franklin street.


Voted-To reconsider the vote passed, by petition, March 5, 1900, whereby it was voted that the Selectmen be instructed to give F. B. Knapp a quit claim deed for any land that is left between the road to be worked at Point End, and the County Commissioners line over the cliff in exchange for a similar deed from him of land used as a road.


Voted-That the Selectmen be instructed not to give F. B. Knapp a quit claim deed for any land that is left between the road to be built at Point End and the County Commissioners line over the Cliff for a similar deed from him of the land to be used as a road.


Voted-To accept "Upland Road" and "Bayside Road" as built by Mrs. Georgiana B. Wright on her property at Point End.


Voted-To raise and appropriate two thousand (2,000) dol- lars for crushed stone roads.


Voted-To raise and appropriate four hundred (400) dol- lars for the use of the Tree Warden, one hundred and fifty (150) dollars to be expended for a spraying machine.


Voted-To raise and appropriate five thousand (5,000) dol- lars for a two room school building and land, one thousand dollars to be paid yearly.


Voted-That a committee of five (5) be appointed by the Moderator, after due consideration, to settle the matter of loca- tion of the two room school building, and other matters per- taining thereto.


Voted-To raise and appropriate two thousand (2,000) dol- lars to establish a sinking fund for the payment of the rail- road loan.


Chose for Sinking Fund Commissioners, Elisha Peterson, for one year, George P. Cushman, for two years, and Edmund H. Sears for three years.


Voted-That the deficit on Bow street and Blue River Bridge be carried to Incidental Account.

Voted-That the Selectmen designate Public Dumping Grounds in various parts of the Town.


Voted-That the Moderator appoint a committee of three (3) in regard to the relation of the Partridge Academy to the Town.


Voted-That the Moderator be paid five (5) dollars for his services and that this may be permanent.

At above meeting the name of 218 Male Voters were checked 'as having voted.


The registering ballot box being unfit to use the balloting

Voted-That the Selectmen be instructed to patrol such parts of the Town as they think wise by two regular offi- cers from the time of their appointment until October Ist, next, and by one officer for the balance of the year.


Voted-To amend the foregoing by adding, "and such other officers as the Selectmen may think necessary."


Voted-That the Selectmen be empowered to pay for police protection out of any unexpended money in the Treasury.


Voted-To accept Russell Road as laid out and built by Mrs. Georgiana B. Wright.

Voted-That for the purpose of raising money for a new Grammar School House the Selectmen are instructed to issue bonds or notes of the Town to an amount not exceeding six thousand (6,000) dollars ; said bonds or notes to bear interest at a rate not exceeding 4 per cent annum, payable semi-an- nually ; said notes to be payable one thousand (1,000) dollars a year for six years, and to be signed by the Treasurer and

approved by the Selectmen. This vote is to supersede any previous votes as to the issue of notes for said purpose.


On the above motion twenty-one (21) voted in the affirma- tive, and none in the negative, more than two-thirds having voted in the affirmative, the motion was carried, and it was so declared by the Moderator.


Voted-That the School Committee be authorized to sell the old school building on the lot of District No. I.


Voted-That the matter of building the road laid out by the Selectmen through land of heirs of Chas. E. Baldwin and heirs of Lucy Marsh be left in the hands of the Selectmen.


Voted-That it is the sense of this meeting that the Se- lectmen be instructed to request the proper officials of the N. Y., N. H. & H. R. R. Co. to continue to flag throughout the year the crossings that are now being flagged.
