There is no greater aid to teachers than an interest in the schools, shown by visiting them and giving a few encourag- ing words. In closing we would ask an appropriation at least as large as last year. The wages of good teachers are

advancing and some of our best teachers have been ap- proached with tempting offers from other towns, of larger wages and longer school terms. So that any material de- crease in the amount of money appropriated must result in crippling the schools.
We would ask that the school money be so appropriated that the committee could, if they saw fit, use a portion of it for the transportation of pupils.

SOME OF THE ARTICLES TO BE ACTED ON AT THE ANNUAL MEETING TO BE HELD MARCH 6, 1894, IN TOWN OF BERKLEY.
1. To choose a Moderator.
2. To see if the town will accept the provisions of Chap. 417, Sections 267 and 268 of the Acts of 1893, in regard to the terms of service of the Selectmen and Assessors.
3. To determine the number of members that shall constitute the Board of Selectmen, Assessors, and fix the number of Auditors, Consta- bles and other town officers.
4. To vote the compensation of Treasurer and Collector.
5. To choose all necessary Town Officers for ensuing year.
6. To act on the reports of Town Officers and other Committees.
7, To raise and appropriate money for School purposes.
8. To raise and appropriate money for Ways and Bridges and deter- mine the expenditure of the same.
9. To raise and appropriate money for Public Library, State Aid, Dis- count on Taxes, Repairs on Public Buildings, Support of Poor, Salaries, Printing and all other incidental expences.
10. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of One Hundred Dol- lars to be expended in the Town Burying-ground and
11. To see if the Town will remove the large pine trees in said ground as advisable, as petitioned for by Edwin H. Allen and others.
12. To act on the list of jurors as prepared by the Selectmen.
13. To vote by ballot, Yes or No on the question. Shall a License be granted in this Town for the sale of Intoxicating Liquors?
14. To see if the Town will authorize the Town Teasurer to hire mon - ey in anticipation of taxes with the approval of the Selectmen.
15. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate money for Memorial Day and choose a committee.
16. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate money to mark the graves of the Soldiers of the Revolution and other wars up to the Civil War.
17. To see if the Town will accept the provisions of Chap. 431, of the Acts of 1888, as amended by Chap. 200 of the Acts of 1893 relating to the employment of a Superintendent of Schools and appropriate money there- for.

The undersigned having been chosen Auditor of the Town of Berkley and duly sworn for the current year,submits the following report.
The books of the Collector examined Feb. 15 1895, indi- cated :

The Treasurer has exhibited vouchers in the form of orders and receipts for all money expended by him.
He has credited the Town with cash from all
