ANNUAL REPORT.
REPAIRS ON SCHOOL BUILDINGS.
All of the school-houses in town, with one exception, have been thoroughly cleaned, painted and varnished in- side. This was something that should have been done some time ago, but as there has been so much to attend to in this line it has been put off until now. With the exception of the school building at Myricks the buildings are in fine condition and justify the remark made by a visitor from Taunton that "they surpassed the school rooms of that city in average condition." We would rec- ommend that the room for storing wood be increased at one or two schools as much of the wood and kindling lays exposed to the weather and is in poor condition to give heat.
Farther than this we have only to ask that the town will take some action in regard to the schoolhouse at My- ricks, which is in sad need of repairs, or a new building. We would recommend the latter as the repairs on the old one would cost a sum large enough to go a long ways in the construction of a new building.
CONDITION OF SCHOOLS.
We think that the general sentiment of those who visit our schools and who are best qualified to judge, will bear us out in the statement that they were never in better condition, nor presided over by a better set of in- structors.
In some of the schools there has been a marked im- provement in the attendance, but some of the parents seem strangely remiss in allowing children to stay out on slight pretenses.
ROLL OF HONOR.
