Warrant read by the precinct clerk and polls opened at 7:05 A. M. after the ballot box had been duly examined by those present, locked and key retained by Frank H. Shefford, Constable in attendance the box registering 000.

After having enjoyed the honour of serving upon the School Committee of the Town of Boxford for a period of six and one half years, SI relue- tantly lay down that most delightful task, as my citizenship is to be elsewhere.


Thereby offer my resignation as a member of the School Committee of the Town of Boxford to take effect upon Dec. 1, 1923, or as soon there- after as will be required by the proper officials to appoint my successor.


Please allow me to thank the good people of the Town of Boxford, the Honourable Board of Selectmen, the Clerk, The Treasurer and the Accountant as well as those fine gentlemen, my colleagues on The Committee for the delight I have had in doing business with them all.

Continuation of the Record of The Annual Town Meeting.


At a legal meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Boxford, Legally qualified to vote at elections and in towns affairs, held in the Town Hall, Bofford, on Monday, March 3,1924. it being the Annual Town Meeting (It being the first time Official Ballots were ever used in our town election.) the following record was made viz: -


Meeting was called to order by the Moderar William K. Cole, at 8 o'clock A. M. and Warran read. Polls were opened at 8-40 o'clock A. M. Joseph B. Matthews, Harry F. Moore, Fred E, Gillis, Everett H. Chadwick and Hiram N. Towne (Clerk). Tellers.


Fred & Gillis and Everett H. Chadwick acted as Ballot Clerks.


The meeting voted to open the Ballot Box and take out the Ballots to count, when fifty ballots had been cast.


The Moderator appointed three more Tellers namely: - Harold & Mover, Clinton B. Nason and Raymond Pearl, these were sworn by the Moderator,

The Highway Surveyors, and the men whom they em ploy to work on the roads, shall receive forty cents an hour.


The pay for a horse, working on the roads, shall be twenty five cents an hour.


The hay for a man and team working on the roads, shal. be seven dollars and twenty cento, for a day of eight hours.


For a yoke of Oven, two dollars a day of nine hours. For a plow and or should, five cents an hour each.


And while pathing snow, the men and teams shall receive the same as the men and teams employed on the roads, except the men shoveling snow, who shall receive fifty cents an hour.


That all other billeshall be allowed by the Selectmen, except their own bills for services rendered to the Town, these bills must be brought before the Town to be allowed.


that we accept the suggested sums in the Budget, and raise and appropriate the same; as suggested by the Selectmen.


that we raise and appropriate an additional sum of twenty five dollars $(25) for Memorial Day and that the 100. thus appropriated be paid over to the West Boxford Veteran's Association before May1, 1924.

U pon a petition filed by Leroy & Colby on March 6. 1924, at 4h: 59m. P.M. for a recount of the Ballots cast for "one School Committee for 2 years" at the Annual Town Meeting held March 3,1924. in the Town of Boxford. The Moderator(William K. Cole), held arecount Wednesday March 12, 1924 at two o'clock P.M. at the Town Hall,


The Petitioners, William H. Dick, now John J. Chadwick Ir. not being present, it was voted to wait until 3 o'clock P.M.


At nine minutes fast three P. M. none of the petitioners or interested parties being present; It was voted to proceed to recount the Ballots. The Moderator read the petition, also a notice sent to the Petitioners, he also stated that he had sent a written notice to William H. Dick, and John J. Chadwick Jr.


The Moderator appointed Joseph B. Matthews and Harry L. Cole to assist this counting the Ballots.


The Ballots were carefully counted, without any change from the Origional Count, as follows :-
