At a legal meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Boxford qualified to vote at Elections and in tow affairs; held in the Town Hall, Bopford, on Monday March 1, 1926, it being the Annual Town Meeting; the following record was made:


At 8 o'clock A. M., the Moderator, Chester Killam. called the meeting to order and read the Warrani


The Constables being absent, Selectman Josep B. Matthews and Moderator Chester Killam appointe! Hiram N. Joune as Constable Pro tero. who was sworn by the Town Clerk.


Polls were opened at 8-30 o'clock A.M.


Clinton B. Nason was appointed Constable Pro Tem. in place of Hirano N. Towne, by the Moderator and Selectman Matthews, and was worn by the Town Clerk Later Constable Frank H. S pofford arrived and took charge of the Ballot Boy keys.

Whereas our friend and fellow-citizen Mr. Charles Perley, has passed from our midst. Therefore be it resolved; That we, the citizens of the Town, in annual meeting assembled, desire to put on record our appreciation of the sterling worth of his character and our gratitude for his long and faithful service as one of the selectmen of the Town.


For forty three years, with a short interregnum when he was Manager of the Town Farm, he was reelected to that office.


He was esteemed by us all as a man of integrity, he was conscientious in the discharge of his duties, faithful to his responsibilities, sagacious in his judgement, loyal in his friend- ship.


We knew him as a man of entire sinceri of character, trusted with the individual affair of many persons and caring for these obli- gations with fidelity


His passing is a well-nigh vireparable loss to us as individuals and to the busines? interests of the town.
