SERVOS, SERVIS

One of the things I would like to know, is whose children were Mar- .garet, Catherine, John and Jacob Servos who went to the Freen School at Johnstown in 1769.

Captain Peter and Christopher Ser- vos settled on the Cayudetta In 1768. I don't see how they could be their children, but . they could be their brother Fredrich Wilhelm's children or grandchildren. I wish some one would .stick their nose out and tell · me. I would give $3 to know. There was also a John Servis born near Johnstown in 1760. He had a brother Philip born in 1767 and also William, Christopher and John W. In the val- ley. Three brothers.

BELLINGER

I wish to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to Lt. Commander L. F. Bellinger, for his Pre-Revolutionary Bellinger Fami- ly. It is a monumental work that -I shall be deeply appreciated by fu- ture generations of Bellingers as well as by the present generation .

I wish to assure Lt. Com. BellInger that the "Oregon Bellingers" are deeply grateful for the years and labor expended to write this almost

unbelievably detailed genealogy. We have found the numerical system us- ed, easily comprehensible and we are delighted with the vast scope of this. great work.

QUERIES

GRAYBILL

Can you tell me whether or not there is a coat of arms for the Gray- bill family. Graybill is the angliclse form from the Swiss Krieblel, Kreh- biel, Krebil, Kriebel Krebull, Kreble, Krebill, Krebil, Kriebihl, Krabill, Kriehbiel, etc. There are many forms of the name found in records. I have found Kraybiel In one book and Kriebiel in another for the same re- cord. I do not know the original Swiss form but I believe it was Krle- biel.

The Kriebiel-Graybills were the German-Swiss exiles who being non- conformists were persecuted because of their religious principles. They took refuge In the Palatinate wbere they settled near the town of Mann- heim on the Rhine before coming to America They were of the farmer- artisan class. Dld people of these classes have arms, unless they hap- pened to descend from the nobillty ? What was the custom of coat armour in Switzerland ?

Earl Reeves-Graybill.
