Cornelius Segertse Van Egmont (Alias van Vcornoudt, Segertse, etc.) was born about 1599; made will No- vember 27, 1662, living 1667; marrled to Bregje Jarot sen, born 1598 (in 1644 she was 45 years of age); dled April, 1667.
Cornelius came to America from Voorhout, Holland in Sept., 1643, with his wife. Brechje Jacobsen, and lo- cated at Albany, N .. Y. Some of hls descendants adopted the name of Egmont, while others used that of Segers. Attempts, so far unsuccess- ful, have been made to connect this family with the Counts of Egmont, he most prominent of whom was Lamoral, Count of Egmont, who was one of the leaders in the Dutch re- sistance of Philip II, and whose ex- ecution was a prelude to the revolt of the Netherlands.
Cornells Segerse van Egmont made a contract with Patroon Kiliaen van Rensselaer August 25, 1643, and sailed from Amsterdam in September, 1643, on "the Wapen van Rensse- laerwyck" with his wife and child- ren. On his arrival in the colony of Rensselaerswyck, he took up a farm formerly occupied by Brant Peelen, on Castle Island, near Albany (oppo- site Bethiehem, Aibany County.) In 1644 his rent consisted of 276 schepels of wheat and 320 schepeis of oats, which was by far the highest rent of any of the farms in Rensselaerswyck at that time. In 1646 he took over from Adrian Vanderdonck the other farm on Castle Island, called Welys- burgh thus coming into possession of the entire Island (van · Rensselaer- Bowier Mss. N. Y. State Lib. 1908.) Among those signing the oath of fi- deiity to the Patroon "May 21, 1653, are found the names of Cornells Se- gers and Cornelis Cornelise van Voor- hout (Albany Annals Munsell Vo. 2.) On May 12, 1654, Cornelis Segersen was appointed guardian of two child- ren of Gysbert Cornelissen, deceased, at the request of the mother Ellsa- beth Cornelissen. (Albany County Re- cords County Clerk's office.)
Cornelis Segerse speculated con- siderabiy in Albany real estate, pur- chasing property in 1654, 1657 and 1658, some of which he was owner of a lot in Albany on the S. W. cor- ner of what is now Columbia street and Broadway. (Coll.] on the Hist. of Albany, Munsell 1865-71.) He made his will Nov. 22, 1662, which he signed "Cornelis Srgers van Voor- hout." Another authority states in
V. Jannetie Cornellse van Egmont, born 1632; died 1700 married Feb. 20, 1650 in New Amsterdam, Jacob Janse Schermerhorn born 1622, died May 26, 1688: (his wiff), son of Jan. Res: Schenectady, N. Y.

- BOGARDUS AND SYBRANT
Replying to Nellis A. Rosbrook's request in your Issue of May 27, 1943 and taken from my contribution April 27, 1940 to the Boston Tran- scripe is the continuation of the Jan- sen-Borgardus-Weber notes.
Second Installment Bogardus, Sy- brant and other families. From the Marriage Book of the Register of the Persons who are herein recorded, and who were married here or outside the city of New York from the 11th of December, 1630 to the 15th May, 1652. (Translations from Holland Language.)

Edwin R.
