CLOCK
Referring to the inquiry of Laura Clock Williams, Cleveland, Ohio, i your paper of January 13, regarding George H. Clock born 1765 and mov- ed to Monroeville, Ohio in 1817. I have practically all known records of the Klock-Clock families. Neith- er those records or the records of New York in the Revolution list any George H. Clock (or Klock) in the period mentioned. .
. If Mrs. Williams knows from what locality in New York state this man lived before going to Ohio it might help to find his ancesters.
: Since he was born only 10 years before the outbreak of the Revolu- tion he probably saw little if any s .service to include him in the mili- tary records.
Johannes Klock had a son Henry who owned land west of Little Falls on the north, side of the river. The initial H. might indicate some con- nection with this Henry.
Also Coonrad Klock and family who were living in Fairfield neigh- borhood during the war of the Re- volution and were carried away to Canada as prisoners in an Indian raid might be a possible line.
In either case such relationship lacks confirmation in any known records that I have.
If Mrs. Williams has any addi- Bonn and bapt. there March 21, tional information, supported by def- inite records such as land papers, church records or family Bible re- cords and will send them on it might help to solve her problem.

ZERVAS, SERVOS, SERVOSS
1. Zervas, Servos, Servoss (Amer- ican.)
2. Zirbesen, Zervas (Low German, Principality of Wied.)
3. Serbos (Hungarian, Magyar.) 4. Zervas, Zervos (Serbian.)
In the dawn of the recorded his- tory of this family they are found in the Old Serbia of the Nemanya Emperors. Subsequent to the Turk- ish conquest of Old Serbia for rea- sons religious this branch of the family first sought and found asylum in Hungary-later for the same rea- son in the former Principality of Wied.
The ancestor of the American branch of the family is Christianus Zervas born in Segendorf, Principal- ity of Wied, bapt. in Niederbrieber Sept. 30, 1664 (son of Johann Daniel Zervas and wife Catherine) married Elizabetha Margaretha de Brush, May 29, 1708. Their children were: 1. Johann Peter Servos born in
1709. He, the Captain Peter who lo- cated between Fonda and Johnstown -married, some say Magdalena. His will dated August 11, 1782, proved Jan. 10, 1783 names her Madallaine. His children: Eva, Anna, Peter, Phil- ip, Johannes and Maria who married a Fishbach. (perhaps others.)
2. Frederich Wilhelm Zervas born | August 2, 1711, bapt. August 5,
1711 in NeuWied. All definitely known of him is that he came with his parents to America and that his wife's name was Elizabeth.
3. Wilhelmus Zervas born Sept. 4, 1716 NeuWied bapt. Sept. 9, 1716 died October 22, 1719, buried Oct. 24, 1719.
4. Anna Magdalena Zervas born Nov. 19, 1718 NeuWied, bapt. Nov. 22, 1718. All definitely known of her is that she came with her parents to America.
5. Christopher Servoss born June 13, 1721, bapt. June 19, 1721. Mar- ried Anna Clara Crief (Creaf, Kreaf, Krieve) lived at Lutheranville, near the Charlotte river, Schoharie coun- ty, killed June 1778' by Morgan's Riflemen. His children: Daniel, Ja- cob, John, Gertrude, Maria (at her marriage Sept. 3, 1774 to Johannis Dachstader, stated she was born in New Jersey) and Christian bapt. 1758. (perhaps others) see printed Archives of Ontario for affidavit of Daniel above.)
6. Veronica Margaretha Zervas born Dec. 3, 1723 NeuWied bapt. ' Dec. 8, 1723, died Sept., 1724, bur- ied Sept. 6, 1724.
Christianus (Christ, Christian, Christopher) Zervas (Servos, Ser- voss) served continuously in the mil- itary service of the principality of Wied for nearly 40 years, granted discharge April 27, 1726, same writ- ten by Prince Frederick in Low German in parchment. Accompany- ing this the Prince gave him a letter of introduction and recommendation to the Governors of N. Y. and Pa. (Christianus being undecided in
which he would settle) attesting his faithful service and his desire to emigrate to America with his wife and 6 children in order to provide better jobs for the future welfare of his family.
one of above alternatives true.
Some have said the other child was Samuel, that he lived near Johns- town, N. Y., close by Johann Peter (Capt. Peter) until about 1760-1761 when he removed to Glen; that he had children: John born 1760 (in af- fidavit for pension for service in Rev .- John swore he was born 1755) married Catherine Pettengell daugh- ter of Dr. Samuel; Christian C. born about 1761, married Christina Pet- tengell, sister of his brother John's wife, lived Florida, drowned Febru- ary, 1814 Fort Hunter bridge, Scho- harie Creek, age 53 years and Philip born Sept. 9, 1767 married Margaret De Graff died March 3, 1847.
Others say no such person as Sam- uel ever existed, that nowhere is the name found, that he is entirely myth- ical.
At all events John, Christian C. and Philip certainly seem to have been brothers no other putative fath- er ever mentioned. They were not sons of Johann Peter (Capt. Peter) because his Philip was a Loyalist- .the Philip, brother of' John and Christian C. not born until 1767. They were not sons of Christopher of Lutheranville, killed 1778 because his son was a Loyalist -- the John, brother of Christian C. and Philip .a Revolutionary soldier. That they were nephews of Johann Peter (Capt. Peter) and Christopher of Lutheranville is proven by the fact .that John served in the Revolution as a substitute for his cousin Chris- tian, son of Christopher of Lutheran- ville. Then they were either sons of Frederich Wilhelm born 1711 or the unnamed and unrecorded 6th child of Christianus.
Who were the two other children i if not Elizabeth and Samuel? Who were the children of Frederich Wil- helm? Did Christianus have other chldren born here in the New
World ?
Does anyone know the answers or have the records gone down to the nameless dust-to remain forever undiscovered ?

Two of the 6 children noted above died young leaving but 4 positively known. The Prince says he had 6 in 1726. Whom were the other 2? (Evidently like Johann Peter the 1st child, born at some other place than NeuWied and recorded there prob- ably at a time when the Prince of Wied had hired his troops out to some other Prince as they so often did in those times.) ,
Some have said one of the others was Elizabeth who married first a, Powell and had a son Capt. John Powell who married Jane Moore (a Cherry Valley captive) daughter of James and Mary Harper Moore of Cherry Valley, Otsego county and who lived at Bertie. Ontario, Cana- da and a daughter Anna Powell, that she married 2nd 1747 Capt. John Johnston and had a son Capt. William Johnston (1st settler of Buffalo, N. Y.) that Capt. John Johnston lived 1773-1778 on the Butternuts now Gilbertsville, N. Y., when he removed to Canada where he died Quebec 1786. A gravestone family burial ground at Palatine Hill, Niagara Township, Canada says "Sacred to the memory of Eliz- abeth Johnston who died Nov., 1811, aged 104 years."
Was her age as given on the stone incorrect, or was she a daughter of Christionus by an unknown first wife ? (note above marriage date of Christianus May 29, 1708 and bapt. date of 1st child Johann Peter May 21, 1709.) Impossible for her to have been daughter of Christianus unless

RAUGHT
Has anyone any information on ! the Raught family of Columbia Co., N. Y .? The name has been mis- spelled as Rought, Rauth, Rath, Wrought and Wraught. These Raughts of Claverack township, Churchtown, Taghkanlc, Martindale and Copake were Hollanders and are mentioned in Hughes' "American | Ancestry" Vol. II, and appear in Co-| lumbia County in the early part of the 18th century.
I am trying to trace the ancestry of my great great great grandfather Jacob Raught who lived in Minden, Montgomery county 1800-1810. He was born in 1773 and died in 1865. He married Margaret (Margretha, Margrita) Casparus, daughter of Valentin and Rebecca (Snyder) Cas- parus of Albany, N. Y. She born in . October 14, 1783 and died Morris- town, N. Y. Jan. 9, 1853.
I think Jacob's father was Adam , Raught who lived in Minden in 1800 and who had wife Elizabeth. I also think Michael who had wife Maria Casparus and Peter Raught -- of Minden to have been his broth- ers.
Adam and Henry Raught appear in the 1790 U. S. Census for Claver-' ack Township, Columbia county, N. Y. I think this Adam and the Adam of Minden to have been the same. Raught Is a very unusual name and I think these all' to have been of the same line. It Is so unusual, in fact, that there isn't a Raught in the phone book of the city of Chi- cago.
Family tradition has it that my Raughts are Mohawk Valley Dutch. Would that be Dutch or German ?

I would gladly pay for any informa- tion on the Raughts and the Cas- parus family also. Are there any genealogists who specialize in Dutch ancestry ?
They had 11 children. I have some data of two of them. Would like to have the family records of the oth- ers for an Austin genealogy.

PETRIE
I am searching for proof of the parentage of Jacob Petri, ensign in i the Revolutionary war. He was born 1740, died 1823 at Columbia Center, then Petrie's Corners. Wife Maria 1750-1813.
Mrs. M. M. Hatch, late of Rich- i field Springs once informed me that Jacob's father was Joseph Petri who was wounded at Oriskany and died August 30, 1777. He left a widow Barbara, according to records in New York State Library. She may have been a second wife and not the mother of Jacob.
I have a theory that this Joseph may have been th John Jost Petry of Burnettsfield who, with wife Ma- ria and four children, was taken captive to Canada in 1757. No proof.
Maria appears in church records with John Jost until 1766. Stone Arabia I-188 has this marriage Jo- han Jost, Johannes Petri and Anna Barbara Windekker, Oct. 24, 1769. Just a supposition that this might be the Joseph who died August 30, 1777. Can anyone give me any infor- mation on above ?
Below I am giving Jacob's mili- tary record which I used in a paper accepted by the NSDAR. In connec- tion with this Petric femlyst have also had papers accepted on Lieut. Joh: Conrad Schaefer, Paul Crim and Lana Steele Crim.

ROUSE, BRADWAY (Broadway)
The 1810 census of Schoharie Co. shows Anthony Rouse and Timothyl days of anesthetics and asepsis and Rouse as heads of families in Car- having the patient survive might have been · considered of sufficient importance to have been recorded somewhere. Ilsle Township. In the same town-i ship was their sister, Huldah Rouse Bradway, widow of Richard Brad- way. In Broome Township was Nich- olas Rouse who may have been an- other brother. This point has not been proved but land records indi- cate the probability.

listed. About 1843 familles and the Anthony Rouse fam- ily removed to Wisconsin and are re-
corded there in the 1850 census at! which time the widow, Huldah Rouse Bradway, states that she was born in New York in 1775. A Bible re- cord says that Richard Bradway was born in 1768, and died Sept. 9, 1808, presumably in Schoharle Co. Who were the parents of Anthony and Timothy and Huldah Rouse?
Where did they live before coming into Schoharie county? What became of the Timothy Rouse family which apparently did not go to Wisconsin with the oth- ers ?
Who was this Richard Bradway who married Huldah Rouse ? Was he a son of Richard Bradway of Smith- field, R. I. who married Hannah Tanner Oct. 21, 1758. The use of the names Abel, Benoni and Jeremiah through several generations of the Schoharie county Bradways suggests a connection with the Rhode Island Bradways where the same names were commonly used.
RHINEILART, GARDENIER
· Jeremiah Bradway, noted above, was born July 5, 1800 (family re- cord,) in Schoharie county, N. Y. He married Elizabeth Rinehart who was born either in Schoharie Co. or vi- cinity, daughter of George and Eliz- abeth (Gardenier) Rinehart. Vol. 1 of the Records of the High and Low Dutch Reformed Congregation at Schoharle lists this marriage on page, 320: Georg Reinhardt with Eliesa -; beth Gardinier 8 February 1791.
One of the several chillren of Jer- emiah and Elizabeth Rhinehart Brad -! way was a · daughter, Mary Jane Bradway, my grandmother whom I knew very well, born July 27, 1834 in Schoharie county. She often said her grandmother, that is, Elizabeth Gardinier, was Pennsylvania Dutch.
