YUBA COUNTY.

BOUNDED on the north by Butte, on the east by Sierra and Nevada, on the south by Placer and Sutter, and on the west by Sutter and Butte.

The Feather River forms the dividing line on the west, while the Yuba traverses it from the northeast to the southwest, form- ing a junction with the Feather at Marysville.

Yuba County was organized in 1850, and is one of the few historic counties of the State.

During the exciting times of the mining fever, the reputation of its wonderful riches and treasures spread far and wide, and it received a large portion of the immigration which poured in dur- ing that memorable era. The total area is 616 square miles, and the population 11,000.

The county comprises both mountain and valley land-the former productive in gold and abounding in forests of pine, and the latter producing grains, fruits, and all classes of vegetation in great perfection.
