Orland.


It is touched by the Northern Railroad, sixteen miles from San Francisco. It is situated on Stony Creek, in the northern part of the county, forty-five miles from Colusa, and commands a lively trade from that section. Its trade also extends into Te- hama County. Chief among its institutions is the Stony Creek College, recently erected by Prof J B Patch, at a cost of $12,000. It is located one mile from town-a judieions distance, for this kind of an institution. The main co lege building is built of brick, and the boarding- house of wood. Both are 40x60 feetin dimensions and two stories high. At the Union Hotel, Or- land guests receive polite atten- tion, and good fare, at the hands of mine host, Kirkpatrick. The Orland Times, weekly, is gotten up and written in a busi- ness-like manner, and all of it is printed in the town. Mr Daw- son, its editor, is evidently a inan of long experience in the
