1st. Voted that the sum of 300 dollars be raised for the support of the poor for the year ensuing.


2d. Voted that the trustees have the management of the parsonage from April 1802 to April 1803.


3d. Voted that the duty of tything men shall be to com- plain of misbehavior at public worship, to a civil magistrate. Nathaniel Dominy, John Stratton Jr., William King and Jesper Dayton were chosen.


4th. Voted that the meadow grass be hired at public auc- tion and from Indian well to the foot of highland. It was hired to Matthew Barns for £5-12-0, and one piece of meadow eastward of the above hired to David Conklin for £0-12-6. Georgica beach hired to Jacob Hopping for £0-12-6.


5th. Voted that the trustees be authorized to hire out the pews in the meeting house for the year ensuing.


6th. Voted that the law respecting eels to stand as it has done for years past.


7th. Voted that the commissioners of highways shall de- termine when the owners of Napeague meadows shall make their fence.


8th. Voted that the trustees be a committee to transact the business respecting the salary of the minister of the gospel.


9th. Voted that the commissioners of highways pay atten- tion to Napeague beach where the tide breaks through.


10th. Voted that the land belonging to David Stratton, near the end of Hook Pond, and is open to the beach, shall be under the same regulations as it respects cattle that are found grazing on it as the cattle are that are found grazing on the south beach.


11th. Voted that owners of sheep may let them run on the commons from this day to the 20th of this month, they

paying all damage that individuals may sustain, whether un- der the direction of a shepherd or not.


12th. Voted that at the request of William I. Rysam, from a committee appointed by a meeting of the inhabitants of Sag Harbor, for the purpose of conferring with the inhabitants of this town for obtaining the privilege of building a wharf at Sag Harbor in the bounds of this town. Therefore voted that the trustees be authorised to appoint a committee of not less than five nor more than eleven persons, and to be vested with full power and authority to examine into the situation of the land and water necessary for the accommodation of said wharf, and make such regulations and grants as they think proper, to be given under their hands and seals.


13th. Voted that Joseph Dimon be principal chorister and David Talmage, 3d, David Sherrill, David Hedges, Jr., and Isaac Dimon, Jr. be assistant choristers.


14th. Voted that Miller Dayton be appointed to meet a delegation from the different towns in this county to meet at Riverhead for the purpose of making arrangements for the ensuing election.


Adjourned to the first Tuesday in April, 1803.

7th. That if any person or persons not inhabitants of this town or not having right in the commons of this town shall be detected in catching eels in any of the bays, creeks or ponds within the bounds of this town he, she or they so of- fending shall, for every such offence, forfeit and pay the sum of five dollars, to be recovered with costs of suit before any court having cognizance thereof by any person or persons who shall prosecute for the same, the one half of all which forfei- tures, when recovered, to be paid to the overseers of the poor for the benefit of the poor of this town, and the other half to the persons or persons who shall prosecute for the same to effect.


8th. That if any person or persons not inhabitants of this town, or not having right in the commons of this town shall catch any clams in any of the bays, harbors, creeks or ponds, or shall take on board of any vessel, boat or craft any clams taken out of any of the bays, harbors, creeks or ponds within this town, every person so offending shall, for every such offence, forfeit and pay the sum of five dollars and the further sum of one dollar per bushel for all the clams caught or taken on board, as aforesaid, to be recovered before any court having cognizance thereof by any person or persons who shall prosecute for the same, the one half of all which forfeitures, when recovered, to be paid to the overseers of the poor for the use of the poor of this town and the other half to the person or persons who shall prosecute for the same to effect.


9th. That the land belonging to David Stratton, near the southwest end of hook pond that is now open to the beach shall be under the same regulations with respect to pounding creatures found thereon as creatures are poundable on the south beach.


10th. That no stallion that is two years old or upwards, or that has lived over two winters shall be allowed to go in the

commons of this town and that all such stallions that shall be found grazing or running at large on the commons of this town shall be liable to be impounded, the owner or owners ot all such stallions so impounded to pay one dollar for each stallion so impounded.


11th. That the trustees shall have full power and authority to exchange all or any part of the parsonage woodland with Mr. Isaac VanScoy if they shall think proper, and that it will be advantageous to the town, and also to superintend cutting and carting wood for Mr. Beecher.

8th. That the land belonging to the heirs of David Strat- ton, deceased, near the southwest end of hook pond, that is now open to the beach, shall be under the same regulations with respect to pounding creatures found theron as creatures that are poundable on the south beach.


9th. That no stallion that is two years old or upwards or that has lived over two winters shall be allowed to lay in the commons of this town, and that all such stallions that shall be found running at large on the commons of this town shall be liable to be pounded, the owner or owners of all such stallions to pay one dollar for each stallion so impounded.


10th. That whereas it is thought to be advantageous to the inhabitants of this town to have a canal cut through the foot of the beach adjoining Russell's neck, known by the name of Stratton beach, and whereas John Mulford, now owner of the meadow at the foot of said beach, is willing a canal should be cut through it on consideration that the town will give him all the sedge and meadow grass that shall make out from said beach in consequence of said canal being cut .- Therefore voted that John Mulford shall be en- titled to all the meadow grass and sedge that shall hereafter grow or make out from said beach in consequence of said canal being cut.

11th. That whereas Daniel Fordham and others have for a number of years occupied a part of the common land belong- ing to this town at Sag-Harbor, without paying any compen- sation for the same. Therefore voted that the trustees be and are hereby authorized and impowered to lease the said lands unto the said Daniel Fordham and every other person that occupies any common land belonging to this town for such term of time and in such manner as the said trustees shall judge best.


12th. That the inhabitants living at or near the Springs in this town shall have liberty to make a pound at the said place called the Springs or to establish any yard joining the high- way at said place to answer for a public pound.
