Physician; born Copenhagen, Denmark, June 6, 1831; was graduated A. B. from University of Copenhagen, and studied medicine for four years when illness forced him to stop for years, which he largely em- ployed in traveling; was in New York, 1586 ; studied in Paris, 1857; was gradu- ated as M. D. from the University of Copen- hagen, 1869, and has since then practiced medicine with obstetrics and gynaecol- ogy as specialty; married, 1868, Louise Riemer; came to N. Y., 1875. Gynae- cologist to the German Dispensary, 1879; obstetric surgeon to N. Y. Maternity Hospital, 1881; visiting obstetrician to the N. Y. Infant Asylum, 1884; visiting gynaecologist German Hospital, 1885; professor of obstetrics in N. Y. Post- Graduate School and Hospital, 1886; vis- iting gynaecologist St. Mark's Hospital, 1890; consulting obstetric surgeon to N. Y. Maternity Hospital, 1892; profes- sor of gynaecology and obstetrics in N. Y. School of Clinical Medicine, 1896; consulting physician N. Y. Mothers' Home and Maternity Hospital.
