·(134) MICHAEL COFFEEN D. 1759 ?
Or Coffein, now Coffin, was a native of Ireland of very _ respectable and wealthy parentage. Lydia LAKE Both were ad. f. c. 4 June 1738. One or M, 2/23;1726 both must have o.b.c. some years before, but the record is lost. His p.a.r. in 1737, was L 0.3.3 .- 39 Acres. where they went to, from here, I have not ascertained. He was in Winchendon, in the early settlement of that town, being one of the original proprietors thereof, but he remained there only a short time. With the exception of the oldest, all their chil. were born in this town, he was probably born in Topsfield. Le seems to have been a nervous impulsive goodhearted Irishman, a great part of the time in "hot water" with his neighbors, but soon getting out of it. The Church found him to be an unruly member, and on several occasions subjected bin to its discipline, but he minded it no more than the blowing of the wind, replying to its grave admonitions with a laugh, or a joke, or both.
