(Son of 124) b.25 Sept.1740 was one of the most distinguished men ever b. in this town. He held in succession every office of trust or dignity which the town or county could confer and almost every honor, civil or military within the gift of the State. He commanded a regiment at the battle of Karatoga in . 1777 when Burgoyne surrendered and was afterwards a Brigadier General. In the early settlement of Walpole, N.H. he was celebrate for his skill in Indian warfare Le was at 19 years of age Town Clerk; Register of Deeds for 30 years; often Representative, Senator Councillor; a Judge and was four times Presidential Elector. He m. Phebe Strong of Northampton a sister of Gov. Caleb Strong. He d. in Walpole, N.H. 4 June 1802. 61-8-10. She d. Chil.b. in Walpole, M.E: 1.
