REPORT OF THE INSPECTOR OF ANIMALS

January 1, 1928.

To the Selectmen of Medfield:

I hereby submit to you the report of my work for the past year.

In December, 1926, I received orders from the Director of the Division of Animal Industry, State House, Boston, Mass., to make a complete inspection of all cattle, sheep, swine and goats kept in this town, also the conditions of the stables in which they were kept, this inspection to be completed not later than February 15, 1927. During this inspection I visited 38 stables in which were kept 279 cattle, 296 swine and 5 sheep. The animals and stables were found in very good condition with a few exceptions. On January 18, 1927, 24 cows arrived from Vermont and New Hampshire and after examining the cows and the necessary test papers, they were released.

On March 15, 1927, 10 cows arrived from Vermont and New Hampshire and after examining the cows and test papers they were released.

On March 22, 1927, 4 horses arrived from New York State and after examination of the horses, which were free from disease, they were released.

On June 5, 1927, 3 horses arrived from New York State and after being examined were released.

On June 6, 1927, 12 cows arrived from Vermont and after examining them and the test papers they were released.

On July 23, 1927, 2 horses arrived from New York and after being examined were released.

On July 26, 1927, 1 horse arrived from New York and after being examined was released.

On August 9, 1927, 24 cows arrived from Maine and after being examined and also test papers to correspond they were released.

On December 13, 1927, 4 horses arrived from New York State. They were examined and released.

9

On August 18, 1927, a person was bitten by a dog. The dog was quarantined for rabies, but at the expiration of fourteen days further signs did not develop, so the dog was released. Respectfully submitted,

GEORGE S. CHENEY, Inspector of Animals.

REPORT OF THE CEMETERY COMMISSIONERS

To the Board of Selectmen:

Our work this year consisted of general maintenance, and owing to the heavy rains the latter part of the summer we were obliged to use funds to repair washouts in the avenues, and for this reason could not complete our general work. We have more repair work on the avenues together with regular expenses, and for this reason we are asking for an increase in appropriation.

We would recommend an appropriation of $1,500.00 for the ensuing year.

Respectfully submitted,

DANIELS HAMANT, ALBION C. GILBERT, JOSEPH A. ROBERTS, Commissioners.
