Article 6. Voted to authorize the Treasurer with the ap- proval of the Selectmen to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1950, and to issue a note or notes therefor, pay- able within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Chapter 44, Section 17, General Laws.
Article 7. Voted that the taxes shall be paid in two equal payments, July 1, 1950 and October 1, 1950, and the Collector shall receive 1% for the 1950 taxes.
Article 8. Voted to authorize the Collector to use all means in the collection of taxes as the Treasurer might if elected to that office.
Article 9. Voted to authorize the Selectmen to appoint one of its members as Clerk of the Highway Department.
Article 10. Voted that the Clerk of the Highway Depart- ment shall receive $25.00 per week.
Article 11. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $700.00 for the improvement of Chapter 90 Roads, providing the State and County, or both allot like amounts for this pur- pose.

Article 12. Voted to transfer the sum of $1,600.00 from the Road Machinery Fund to the Highway Operating Account to defray expenses of the operation and maintenance of High- way Machinery.
Article 13. Voted to accept Chapter 265 of the Acts of , 1947, which authorizes the closing of Public Offices in Cities and Towns on Saturdays.
Article 14. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,230.00 to remodel and repair the Old Legion Room to make it available for a General Welfare Office; said alterations to be subject to the approval of the State Board of Public Welfare.
Article 15. Voted to dismiss this article wherein repairs to the Town Offices were asked.
Article 16. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $150.00 for the purpose of making repairs to the Town Clock so that it will strike the hour.

Article 20. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $2,500.00 to be used for the preparation of the proper obser- vance of the 300th Anniversary of the Incorporation of the Town of Medfield.
Article 21. Voted to dismiss the petition for a new side- walk on the West side of Pleasant Street.
Article 22. Voted to dismiss the petition for a new side- walk in front of St. Edward's Church Rectory.
Article 23. Voted to dismiss the petition for a new side- walk around Sauer's Block.
Article 24. Voted to dismiss the petition for a new side- walk from the railroad to the property of Philip and Violet Gove.
Article 25. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $2,000.00 for the systematic collection and removal of garbage.
Article 26. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $500.00 for the hire of Roberts' Ambulance for Town use.

Article 27. Voted to adopt the following By-Law which reads: "No person or corporation shall construct a building or make any exterior structural changes in a building nor change a single family dwelling to a multiple family dwelling without first notifying the Board of Selectmen in writing. The Assessors hereafter shall receive a list of all such changes from the Board of Selectmen.

Article 28. Voted to adopt the following Earth Removal By-Law: "The removal of sod, loam, sand, gravel or stone from single or general residence districts of the Town of Med- field shall be deemed non-conforming use of premises. Such uses shall be permitted only after Special permission of the Selectmen, and under such conditions as the Selectmen shall impose. The Selectmen shall grant no such permits as would. in their opinion adversely affect the scheme of growth laid down in the Zoning By-Law or elsewhere, or the economic status of the Town or tend to impair the beauty of the Town or of the district most immediately affected, or develop health or other hazards. Conditions deemed by the Selectmen as tending to protect the Town and the district, shall be imposed where needed and made a part of the permit. No permit for the excavation or removal of material shall be granted by the Selectmen for a period of more than seven (7) days from the date of issue but may be extended for additional seven (7) day periods at the discretion of the Selectmen. Permit issued by the Selectmen shall only be issued to an owner of record and shall not be transferable."

Article 37. Voted to dismiss this article wherein $300.00 was asked for the trimming and pruning of trees in Vine Lake Cemetery.
Article 38. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $1.00 to purchase the Tool Tomb in the New Section of the Cemetery from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Article 39. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $4,500.00 for the maintenance of Vine Lake Cemetery and also transfer the sum of $625.00 from the Sale of Cemetery Lots Fund for the purpose of developing the new part of the ceme- tery.
Article 40. Voted to accept the following named sums as Perpetual Trust Funds for the care of lots in the Vine Lake Cemetery, the interest thereof or as may be necessary to be used for said care, viz:

Article 45. Voted to transfer the sum of $194.25 from the Treasury to the Library, the same being the amount of fines collected by the Library during the year 1949.
Article 46: Voted to transfer the sum of $547.67, the 1949 Dog Tax Return to the Library.
Article 47. Voted to have the American Legion appoint a committee of five which will have the authority to make arrangements to spend money appropriated under Article 4 for the observance of Memorial Day.
Article 48. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $400.00 for Evening Vocational Classes for Women.
Article 49. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $800 for tuition to State Aided Vocational Schools.
Article 50. Voted to authorize the Assessors to use a sum of money not to exceed $20,000.00 from free cash in the Treas- ury for the reduction of the 1950 tax rate.
Article 51. Voted to dismiss this article as it had already been acted upon at the Special Town Meeting of February 20, 1950.

Article 1. To see what additional sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer or appropriate from available funds to the School Building Committee for architect fees to be incurred in connection with the building of a new elementary school, or do or act anything in relation thereto.
Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to petition the Legislature for authority to borrow a sum of money not exceeding $250,000.00 outside the debt limit for the purpose of building a new elementary school building and originally equipping and furnishing the same and for the purpose of acquiring by purchase a suitable parcel of land on which to construct such school.
Article 3. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer or appropriate from avail- able funds for the purchase for school purposes of the follow- ing described parcel of land:
A certain parcel of land situated in Medfield in the County of Norfolk and Commonwealth of Massachusetts and bounded and described as follows:
Westerly by Adams Street, four hundred seventy four and 98/100 (474.98) feet;
Northwesterly by land now or formerly of Eleanor G. Perry, eight hundred twenty five and 43/100 (825.43) feet;
Northeasterly by North Street, four hundred and eighty and 88/100 (480.88) feet;
Southeasterly by lands now or formerly of Emma E. Heard and of New England Trust Co. et al, Trs., 854.40 feet. Excepting therefrom a strip 40 feet in width and lying on the northerly side thereof and extending from Adams Street to North Street.
Said parcel is shown as lot B on a plan drawn by E. Worth- ington, Engineer, dated April 18, 1923, as approved by the Land Court, filed in the Land Registration Office as #9292A1, a copy of a portion of which is filed in Norfolk Registry dis- trict with Certificate #6733, Vol. 34.
The above described land is subject to the terms of a stipulation filed at Norfolk Registry District of the Land Court with copy of Decree #938 .
Subject to rights acquired therein by the County of Nor- folk by an instrument dated September 21, 1948 and noted as Document #119322 on certificate of title #32727 as issued by

Pursuant to the foregoing warrant the meeting was called to order by the Moderator at 7:30 P.M. and the following action was taken on the articles under consideration:
Article 1. Voted that the sum of $1,000.00 be raised and appropriated from the current taxes of the present year for the use of the School Building Committee for architects' fees in connection with the construction of the new elementary school. said sum to be used by said Committee in conjunction with funds heretofore appropriated to it.

Article 2. Voted to authorize the Selectmen to petition the Legislature for authority to borrow a sum of money not ex- ceeding $250,000.00 outside the debt limit for the purpose of building a new elementary school building and originally equipping and furnishing the same and for the purpose of ac- quiring by purchase a suitable parcel of land on which to con- struct such school.
Article 3. Voted that the sum of $6,000.00 be raised and appropriated for the purchase of the so-called Gaither property described at length in this article for school purposes for the Town of Medfield. To meet such appropriation the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow in accordance with Chapter 44, of the General Laws the sum of $5,000.00 and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor, such bonds or notes to be paid in not more than five years from the date of issue of the first bond or note or at such earlier time as the Treasurer and Selectmen may deter- mine. The balance of $1,000.00 to be paid out of the current taxes of the present year. The Chairman of the School Build- ing Committee and the Board of Selectmen are hereby author- ized to consumate the foregoing transaction in behalf of the Town.

Article 3. Voted to hear the report of the School Building Committee.
Article 4. Voted that the School Building Committee be instructed to retain the firm of Perley F. Gilbert Associates, Inc. as architects for the new Elementary School Building.
