ACCOUNTANT'S CERTIFICATE

I have examined the cash receipts and securities in the various Trust Funds in the hands of the Treasurer and find them to be as stated in the Treasurer's Report.

The income from Trust Funds in the hands of others have been received for the year 1950 and credited to the proper accounts. The receipts as reported by the Treasurer agree with the books and that payments of the Town, correctly present the financial status as of December 31, 1950.

At this time I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Honorable Board of Selectmen, to all the Officers and em- ployees, and to the Town Report Committee who have helped im- measureably in the compiling of this Town Report.

Respectfully submitted, Theodore C. Palizzolo Town Accountant.

Donor Roll of Lynnfield LYNNFIELD MEN WHO HAVE FOUGHT IN HER COUNTRY'S WARS 1775 - 1951

Out of its meagre population of

four hundred citizens, eighty-four men, previously organized and trained, served at the battle fought in Arlington - previous to the Lexington and Concord encounters. The losses sustained upon that occasion have been repeated many times, particularly

in World War II, strangely prophetic of the words of the late Nathan Hawkes, author of "Hearths and Homes of Greater Lynn" who once said: "America, Massachusetts and Lynnfield will bind the laurel around the patriots in whatever war or cause they may strive for the common-weal."

ANNUAL REPORT

for 1951

LYNNFIELD BIRCHES

I've seen you stand knee-deep in snow, Delighting in the sun's pale glow. I've heard your new leaves laugh and sing With every stirring breath of spring.

Like children hiding in their play Around the road's bend to waylay Their friends with gay cries of "Hello" - I've often come upon you so.

In fall, you don a festive air With golden sequins in your hair - And bow in slender elegance To lusty winds of arrogance.

I, who have watched and loved each mood, Still turn to you in solitude, Your roots grown deep to be a part Anchoring my New England heart.
