TOWN OF NORWELL

REPORT OF THE SELECTMEN

To the Citizens of Norwell:

At a Special Town Meeting held on December 13, 1948, it was voted to hold a Town Forum on the Sunday immediately preceding each and every regular and special town meeting, for the purpose of discussing the articles in the Town Warrant. The Town Forum held prior to the regular Annual Town Meeting of March 7, 1949 had an attendance of less than 125. We feel that this is an excellent opportunity for the citizens of Nor- well to discuss and become better acquainted with the articles to be voted on at the Annual Town Meeting, and we hope that every citizen who can attend will do so.

Under Chapter 90 work on the highway, $3,000 has been requested from the town, $3,000 to be matched by the County and $6,000 by the State, making a total of $12,000 to be used on Grove Street.

The Town of Norwell lost a well known and valuable citizen in the death of John T. Osborn, Tree Warden, and Deputy Sheriff for Plymouth County. He gave freely of his time, serving on the Board of Fire En- gineers and various other committees for many years, and was a member of the Republican Town Committee from 1940 to 1949. He is missed by his many friends.

On Friday evenings between the hours of 7 and 9 o'clock the Board of Selectmen meet at the Town Offices. We welcome the opportunity to be of service in answering any questions or town problems you may have.

To the department heads and committees who served the town so well throughout the year, the Selectmen wish to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation.

A. LESTER SCOTT, Chairman RALPH H. COLEMAN JAMES A. LIDDELL
